Wonderful Escape from Dublin for a Short Beach Visit to Skerries
May 2018 • Couples
We were in Dublin for 2 days and did all the touristy stuff on the 1st day. On the 2nd day, we took the train from Dublin to Skerries which is a beach like resort. It was a nice break for us so we got to walk along the beach, visit the Tower, check out the town. If you wanted to be more adventurous, there are some water sports you could do as well.

Overall it was a pleasant break from the rushing around in Dublin and enjoy a day at the beach just walking around. If you have the time in your busy day, this could be a fun 4-5 hour excursion to the beautiful coastal area in Ireland.

I would recommend this.

Skerries - well worth a visit
Jul 2018 • Couples
Tuesday afternoon 31st July we visited the small seaside town of Skerries which is situated on the coast of Ireland and is about 22 miles North of Dublin.

There are 2 beaches, the smaller one is the North Beach where the Skerries Sailing Club and harbour are situated.

The second larger beach is situated in St Patricks Bay, with views of Shenick Island and it's Martello Tower. The other 2 Islands, Colt and St Patrick's can be seen along with the Rockabill Lighthouse.

On Strand Street is the Skerries Library, at rather unusual looking building. Keep an eye open for the charming statue of the Embracing Seals. At the end of the street is the Skerries Monument, this is a small little obelisk commemorating a local landowner.

The Sea Pole Memorial can be seen from a distance. We had lunch in the Olive Delhi (reviewed separately) on Strand Street.

A short distance away is the Skerries Mills there are two windmills and a watermill, an industrial heritage centre. Guided tours are available daily and worth a visit.

It was most enjoyable strolling along the streets of Skerries which consist of Strand, Church, Quay Streets and Harbour Road. There is more to see and do in Skerries than we thought when we first got there.

Skerries - Great place for lunch and a walk
Oct 2017 • Couples
Lovely town to visit. We always park near the harbour and have lunch in one of the nice restaurants before a long walk along the beach. Went on Sunday before hurricane Ophelia's arrival. All round it was very pleasant.

BBQ on the Island
Jun 2016 • Friends
7 of us kayaked out to Colt Island with all the gear for BBQ on a sunny morning. It took us about 30min to get out to the Island which was a great paddle. We spend about 2 hours on the shore cooking food on the BBQ. It was an amazing experience and I would definitely do it again. 😃

Just the perfect activity in the lovely town of Skerries
May 2016 • Couples
We were completely beginners and with the help of Peter, our instructor we were happy paddling within 30-40 mins. Stand up paddling was neither too hard or too easy, had fun and all gear was provided. We can only recommend it....and we will be back for sure.
