Myself and a group of friends did the Sunset Kayak from Bullock Harbour on Thursday evening and we were not disappointed!
On arrival we were assured that the equipment had been soaked in Milton (given the current situation). We were given equipment and straight into the water. In the harbour we practiced for a few minutes and then we moved out. Due to the wind we could not go as far as Dalkey Island and so we went past Sandycove and out to Dun Laoghaire pier. We saw lots of seals and a beautiful sunset.
We would definitely come back again and hopefully we get out to Dalkey Island!

Signed up for the Learn to Kayak course with kayaking.ie and had the absolute best weekend ever. Being used to using a sit on kayak a few times a week, I thought I would know most things... this was not the case 😀 I learned so much over the weekend and so many New skills on the river kayak.

Our instructor Clara was just brilliant with so many tips and tricks and stories about learning to kayak and also great advice on joining clubs and gear to use.

On the Saturday the weather was so warm and on the Sunday it lashed rain all day. It really didn't matter though. Both days were as great as each other in their own ways.

Can't recommend this company enough.

We took a tour with Clara and had the absolute BEST time! The weather turned the night before and they got in touch straight away and offered me options and ultimately chose a safe location for us to kayak around Dun Laoghaire harbour. The whole thing was a really great experience and Clara was such a good guide full of information about the area and the wild life (we saw seals!). She let us go at our own pace and explore and it was honestly the best birthday gift. Highly recommend 10/10👏👏👏

We booked the Dalkey Guided Sunset Kayak Tour 5.30pm

It's alway nice to leave a good review but only when it is merited.

70 minutes before the tour started we were advised by WhatsApp that due to gusting windows the tour was now in Dun laoghaire. That would have been okay but the Dun laoghaire tour is shorter and not comparable to The Dalkey Tour.

The team at Dun Laoghaire were really friendly & informative but the tour is very basic compared to the Dalkey tour.

We have checked the Kayaking.ie website & find no mention that this would be an option. Have been in touch with Kayaking.ie since but the response is poor

Weather can be unpredictable but if you need to rearrange something at least make it comparable or compensate somehow. We love Dun Laoghaire & visit regularly but a Kayak around Dun Laoghaire harbour is not the quality tour we paid for at Dalkey.

We were so enthusiastic heading out on Sunday & just fed up with the whole thing since.

Never again!

If you are interested in taking up kayaking as either a sport or recreational hobby I could not recommend this course enough.

The course provides you with all the basic knowledge and skills allowing you to take a kayak out safely and to “hold your own” in a group with other paddlers.

Twelve hours of kayaking is packed into the weekend and although it sounds intense you have plenty of time to practice your newly learnt skills throughout.

James and Susan were our instructors who showed great patience during the course. Both having extensive knowledge, they imparted what they knew at the right level and pace for the group.

After completing the course Jenny, the owner, provides you with a Level 2 Skills certificate and was also very kind to provide me with further information regarding local clubs and people who may be interested kayaking in my local area.

To make the most of the course I would fully recommend joining a club as soon after the course so that you can put those newly learnt skills to good use. I completed the course on the weekend and the following Thursday was out on the water again. The Level 2 Skills puts you ahead of many in a local club that may have been paddling for several months.

I recently did a two-day level 2 kayaking course with kayaking.ie in Dún Laoghaire Harbour and couldn't recommend it strongly enough. The instructors were helpful and patient, the gear was all provided (and thoroughly sanitised) and, most of all, it was great craic. I was lucky enough to get good weather for the first day but even on the second, when the sea was rougher, the instructors made it work. Altogether a great experience. I'm hoping to try level 3 on the canal or the trip out to Dalkey Island with them before long.

A really enjoyable experience. A great location for learning to kayak as the water is calm and there wasn't many others on the water. Our instructors Rob and Rob were fantastic. They gave really clear instructions while demonstrating each new skill They were encouraging and positive when giving feedback.
I feel that my kayaking skills improved a lot over the weekend. I would highly recommend kayaking.ie for anyone who wants to start out kayaking or for anyone that has tried kayaking before and would like to improve on their skills.

I treated my friend to a birthday kayak yesterday with kayaking.ie. Excellent fun experience. The staff were super safe, fun and great guides on the water! I would definitely recommend it as a great way to see everything from a new viewpoint, get closer to nature and a destresser.

Part of a surprise birthday trip, my wife and I arrived to a very warm and reassuring welcome from our guide & instructor Hamish who immediately settled our nerves as the sea appeared rather choppy! Treated to a very inclusive experience as we were the only people in the group paddling out that day - Hamish patiently talked us through the equipment, techniques & useful tips while on the water. As we entered the small harbour for some familiarisation, the first of what would be many seals appeared to check on our progress! Spurred on by seeing this amazing creature, we were soon paddling away from the harbour and tracking along the coastline enjoying the incredible sights, sounds & smells of the sea. Hamish kept us reassured, while offering lots of thoroughly interesting facts about the history of the area including why it is so rich in impressive sea life. Light rain didn’t dampen our spirits and before we knew it, it was time to return to shore. The whole experience was excellently delivered; Hamish is a fantastic guide who made a great day outstanding!

Booked for myself and my friend for her birthday to go out on the 9:30am kayak trip on Thursday. We were blessed with sunshine but I think the experience would have been just as enjoyable regardless of the weather. The views are beautiful and getting to see the seals was a highlight for us as well as the fab views from Dalkey island. We really felt like we were abroad on holidays. Couldn’t recommend enough and will definitely be back again! Thanks to Jenny our lovely tour guide for looking after us 🙂
