Amazing Experience with Owls, Falcons, and Hawks at Dublin Falconry
Jul 2019
We were on a organized bus tour with My Ireland Tours in Ireland that did not include a falconry tour, so we arranged this on our own. My husband and I, our 21-year-old son and 18-year old daughter took a taxi from the Guinness Storehouse in downtown Dublin to the Dublin Falconry at Luttrellstown Castle. It is a private castle that requires a code to get into. We learned after our arrival that it is the castle where David and Victoria Beckham were married (a nice bonus for the tour). Trevor Roche, the owner of Dublin Falconry has a large area on the castle property for all his birds of prey. Trevor is truly an expert on these birds and you can tell how passionate he is about them. We signed up for the 4-hour tour so we got to learn about and interact with owls, hawks, and falcons. I am so glad we did that because every experience was unique and amazing. We started in Trevor's outdoor enclosure and met about 4 owls of different sizes. They flew back and forth between us and would perch on our gloved hands. They didn't mind cameras at all and we got some great up close photos. We got to feed a couple of Eagle Owls. The food was not very pleasant (frozen mice and baby chicks) - but not too bad. After the owls, we went on a "Hawk Walk". We walked around the castle and the hawk followed us. He either flew from tree to tree (sometimes leaving to try to catch a pigeon) or walked next to us. The hawk would fly to the castle or a tree and then back to us for food. They are so well trained. Then we got to fly a falcon. The hood is put on the falcon to keep it in a calm state. The bird seemed to like it. It was only on a short time until we walked to the field where he was let loose. Trevor attached food to a plate on a string & swung it above our heads. The falcon would dive at incredible speeds right over our heads until he caught the food. Our last visit was with Lilly and Lucy, 11-week old barn owls. This was the first day they would fly to guests. So, all four of us got to go into their enclosure while they flew around to each of us. These owls were so sweet. Trevor is training them to deliver the wedding rings for ceremonies at the castle. This was one of our favorite experiences in Ireland and well worth the money.

EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME
Sep 2019
By far the highlight of our trip. And quite honestly one of the coolest experiences of my life. Trevor was amazing, he's very informative and kind and really cares for his magnificent birds.
We did the owl experience and were surprised at how much time we actually got to spend with the birds, not just holding them, but flying them and even snuggling with one of them (Jay Jay). I wish I lived close enough to visit them more often, they are truly extraordinary creatures.
An absolute must for anyone interested in learning about these wondrous birds of prey.

Magical experience
Jul 2019 • Family
A wonderful experience for all the family. Suitable too for work and individual outings. This is a highly unique experience steeped in history. It is enjoyable educational and gives an insight into these magnificent birds of prey. Trevor, the owner is clearly at the top of his profession and his passion and love for conservation and the welfare of these birds is a overwhelming. There is nothing he doesn’t know and the birds clearly love him. We as a family had an incredible experience in his self contained centre and beautiful grounds of luttrellstown Castle. Close to the M50 and Blanchardstown Shopping Centre booking was by appointment. You will not find better than Dublin Falconry. 5 plus Stars

Wonderful! Dublin falconry is a must!
Oct 2019 • Family
Trevor is amazing! He really knows his birds, he was informative and gave a great experience! We opted for the experience "C" which included all the owls, the hawk walk and the falconry demonstration. Definitely a wise choice! Everything was interesting, exciting and fun!we really were involved and hands on with the birds! We were able to easily reach Dublin falconry via public transportation and a short walk and the Luttrellstown castle is breathtaking. Highly recommend and the best falconry experience available!

Owl experience
Sep 2019 • Couples
We really enjoyed this experience. Trevor is funny, knowledgeable, and clearly loves and takes great care of all his feathered friends. We did the owl experience and could not have had a better time. There is still debate between our favorite between Bella, JJ, or Piper. What a great time! Thanks Trevor!

Best of the best!

Looking online, there is a bunch of Falconries throughout Ireland to choose from, most give a short meet and greet then will offer different tour upgrade packages. I'm not going to say they are not good, just different than what Trevor offers. When you book with him, be prepared for an amazing adventure. From the moment you meet him his love for the birds shines through and your booked adventure is yours alone. So with others, you might get a few minutes with a bird, but with Trevor, from start to finish you are in constant interaction, whether it be an eagle flying to you, petting an owl or taking a lovely walk with the Harris hawk and watching his amazing hunting skills. Trevor was a wealth of information and his knowledge and skill of caring for and training these raptors will keep you spell-bound for hours. I want to say thank you again for an amazing afternoon, I will never forget it!

Unique Experience
Aug 2019
We spent the afternoon at the Dublin Falconry and had a super time. Trevor, the proprietor was a gem. Not only did he know his stuff, but answered every question we had and filled in many of the holes we had in our bird knowledge. We spent time with owls, hawks and falcons. The owls were so cute and loved to be petted and I got a great photo of my wife cuddling with one. The hawk and falcon were tremendous examples of birds of prey. The falcon would fly at a high rate of speed towards you and would come so close you could feel the air as it passed.
I would highly recommend this as an alternative event to golfing in Ireland. Trevor is special as is his profession and this is a unique experience for any animal lover

Fabulous activity-- here's how to get there!
Jul 2019
My friends and I absolutely loved our experience with Trevor and his beautiful birds, for whom he obviously cares very much and treats with love and respect. But I'm here to help you users with something I wish I'd had before we went: directions.
If you're traveling from Dublin by train, as we did, take the Irish Rail to Clonsilla. When you exit the train station, turn right. At the end of the road, you'll see a big gate; that's the entrance to the Luttrellstown Castle grounds. It'll take you 8-10 minutes to walk to the gate (which is at a T intersection); once you get there, use the entry code that Trevor sent to you, and enter the grounds. You'll walk through the golf course for another 10 minutes or so before you see signs for Dublin Falconry pointing to your right; shortly after you make that turn, you'll see Trevor's compound. And then you're there-- enjoy!

Added so much to our trip to Ireland!
Jul 2019 • Family
Sometimes after a trip, there's the one thing that, in retrospect, would have caused a lacking in that trip had it not taken place. This is that one thing for us! Trevor Roche was welcoming, passionate about the animals, educated in falconry and evidently had a definite relationship with the birds, going far beyond that of business, visible in his concern and care. Not only did he have a total understanding of falconry but of the history of Luttrellstown Castle. As challenging as it might be, he balanced caring for the birds, caring for us and ensuring we got the best experience possible and a lot of photography and videos to reflect on. Trade an afternoon of something for this. You wont be sorry. Wear comfortable shoes as there is some easy walking involved but coming from someone with joint issues, it is definitely doable.

Hello,
I am trying to book a hawk walk at the new location. I have sent a few emails to the address on the Dublin Falconry site and to the castle with no response. I’ve also tried to call both numbers but they won’t go through.
Can anyone give me information on how to get a hold of them or book online?
Thank you,
Natasha

We are hoping to visit the Falconry center in April! Do you mind telling me which package you chose (Hawk Walk, Falcon A, Falcon B, etc)? We are trying to decide on the best option and I am SO excited I found this place!
Thanks!

We chose to take the 101 bus from Talbot St. in Dublin, note this is not the city bus but Bus Éireann. The bus runs every 35-45 minutes and there is a bus stop right at Courtlough. From there is is a 15 min. walk through the countryside up to Trevor's. After we finished, we walked back to the stop and a bus picked us up within 20 minutes. I think the ride was about 40 minutes each way, traffic permitting. It couldn't have been any easier. However, as stated previously, Trevor was talking about moving, so check with him. Do not miss out on this experience!

Hello!
My husband and I will be staying at the Ashling Hotel in Dublin, and would like to do your Hawk Walk on May 25 or 26. Do you have availability for two on either day?
How do we get from our hotel to your place? (And return!)
What is the cost for two, how long does the Hawk Walk last, and how should we dress?
Thank you!
