A great drive down to the lighthouse just off the road to Killybegs , on the way there is a lovely beach .

Stunning but hard to drive
Aug 2020 • Family
Brilliant stunning views. Lovely peaceful spot. Kids loved it ( my daughter loves songs of the sea so she got a kick out off the light house) an will visit again but at a quieter time. My big issue is lack of local bathrooms. Parking and the road. Stressful drive. A wee tea house wouldn't go miss either. But it is a lovely spot xo

West of Ireland, at its best.

Located on a peninsula just north of Donegal Town, St. Peters Point is a wonderful, if sometimes wild, destination. The lighthouse is in perfect condition and also host a LOP (a large sign made of rocks stating 'Eire' a hangover from WW2 and Ireland's neutrality). Take a walk along the seashore, explore the rock pools or just try to spot Canada, as this is the next landfall for 3500 kilometres. Tranquil, green and perfect.

Lovely walk
Nov 2019
If you get a nice day then try this walk. It is not very strenuous, and it is on a roadway so not mucky. You can drive to the point but park the car and take in the fresh air, I guarantee you won't be sorry.

Never on a Monday !

Had a great drive up the Fanan peninsula but the lighthouse was closed on Mondays. I’m sure it’s worth a guided tour there as the views would be amazing.

Amazing view

St John's lighthouse is not available to go round but the journey down one of the longest peninsula's in Ireland is great. Do stop off at the weaver who can't be missed as her studio is thatched. You can walk round the head of the peninsula which gives great views back to killybegs harbour. Where appropriate shoes/boots as it can be muddy. The limestone grassland is also pretty on a sunny day.

Fishing and sight seeing Hotspot

I have been coming here since 1995 and no matter how many times you come the views are still breathtaking, explore the lighthouse and the small stunning beach.
I also go here to fish, mackeral, pollock, conger and wrasse can be caught off the rocks. I'd tell you the best places but why take away the joy of exploring them :-).
Enjoy

Unique setting
Aug 2019 • Family
Great location and quite unique accommodation available through the Irish Landmark Trust. We stayed in the Schooner which was spacious for 4. We were well looked after by Gerrard (property manager) who also provided some good tips for places to visit and to eat in the area. Good base to visit the wider Donegal region.

Beauty at it’s best.

Magnificent scenery. Road down is a bit bumpy and twisty but that make it all the better when you get to the end. You get a great view of Sligo mountains.
