Family Horse Riding in the Irish countryside
We are on a family trip to Ireland with grandparents, kids and grandkids (ages 8-68) and we just had an amazing experience at Castlefergus Riding Stables. Ada and Sarah were wonderful to work with leading up to, during and after the entire experience. They outfitted us all with helmets and made us all feel safe and comfortable on the horses. There were 11 of us on our ride and the scenery was breathtaking and so authentic of an Irish countryside experience! 10/10 recommend for a fun and unique experience for all ages.

A must do and unforgettable experience!
Sarah and her crew including our horses were amazing! Our family of 4, including my two daughters 7 and 10 had an amazing time and considering all that we did on our Ireland holiday, this was the highlight of my daughters’ trip! Including seeing and holding the baby lambs and trotting our way around the Forrest and pasture. Thank you Sarah for sharing your horses and home with us! We will recommend and return!

    Excellent horse riding experience
Such a gorgeous experience taking in the wonderful views of a castle and the beautiful Irish countryside and woodlands . All the lambs jumping around while we were on horse back, riding along the river bank. The horses were well behaved and the owners were very nice and helpful. Highly recommend 👌

Beautiful scenery, great staff and horses
Beautiful scenery and great narration from the guides along the way. Through thick forests and meadows, we saw many baby lambs and endless green pastures. The history lessons along the way were great, the whole family really enjoyed it! Highly recommend this location.

    Fantastic Trekking and Ride-outs
Excellent trekking experience with Castlefergus. I have been coming here for years and always come back anytime I am in the area. Sarah was very friendly and extremely helpful and took us out to the fields and through the forests and meadows. Beautiful sunny day. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

    delightful afternoon
We had a lovely afternoon ride during a travel to Ireland. We are not experienced riders. The horses were safe and fun. The owner was with us and was very friendly, sharing interesting stories about the farm and the area. We were delighted to have found them.

    Beautiful Irish countryside on horseback
The owners, Ada and Morgan, were wonderful. My husband and I are very inexperienced riders. We were made to feel comfortable and confident. The tour through the fairy forest (a delight for kids) and into the open fields was simply beautiful. This is a family run business and well worth a visit - you won't be disappointed! Experience genuine Irish hospitality

This is a very nice way to spend a few hours, especially when the sun is shining. As we had both never been horse riding before, we were paired up with some calm and friendly horses for our trek through the Quin countryside, guided by the lovely staff. The trek took approximately 1 hour and passed through the local woods and fields where we got to meet the local sheep population along the way! Highly recommended!

I used to take riding lessons at Castlefergus with my sisters as a teenager, and was so happy to return with my husband and daughters when on holiday in Ireland. We received such a warm welcome from Adia, Morgan and their now grown up children. The stables have expanded over the years with a fabulous new arena and a special experience for children with a magical fairy trail in the woods. This is a wonderful way to spend some time in the Clare area with genuine people who have a real love of nature and their horses.

Myself and girlfriend had a really enjoyable experience on trekking in the fields and woods. Sarah and her team were very friendly and made us feel safe. The scenery was breathtaking through the fields and the final stretch roaming through the fairy woods on horseback really topped it all off. Such nice memories made today :)

On holiday in the West I booked ahead at Castlefergus Equestrian and had an opportunity to discuss the type of riding experience my little nieces and nephews were looking for. I booked a trek through the woods for the three of them and it was a massive success. They were very well supervised at all times and each child was led by a staff member. The reaction was fantastic, the kids had a ball and wanted to go again immediately. I was reassured by the obvious competency of the staff and the professionalism in their dealings with me and the kids. Highly recommended, we’ll definitely be back!

We absolutely loved riding at Castlefergus Equestrian. We had beautiful weather for our two days of riding and after so much rain, the fields were a gorgeous green. The horses were lovely to ride and we all felt comfortable with our mounts. They were extremely trustworthy and surefooted. Sarah led us through the most picturesque woods and lanes and fields; I would highly recommend this riding stable, and we hope to return again in the future!

My son and I had the opportunity to book the horse riding experience during our stay at Dromoland castle. We have ridden horses during other vacations, but certainly are not experienced riders. We had Morgan as our guide and he did a wonderful job guiding us, but also shared some history of the land and the Irish culture. Morgan led the way, but my son and I were given the freedom to travel at our own pace and the horses were calm and responsive to our commands. Our two horses were Magpie and Graham and both had a good demeanor.
Overall it was a great experience to be able to do something we enjoy, while feeling safe at the same time. The cost is considerable and could be an obstacle as a one hour ride will cost a party of two 160 euros, which was greater than was advertised by the castle on its website.

My 2 daughters aged 6 & 8 were new to pony trekking. They were really well seen after, the ponys were quiet and well schooled. It was a lovely trek through the woods and farmland . It was very easy to find, just off the motorway and I would recommend this to anyone with kids, its a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.

What an absolutely enchanting trail ride! My husband and I went this past week and had such a great time. Ada and Morgan were the perfect hosts, greeted us and got us ready and then we had the pleasure of taking the tour with Morgan who was an amazing companion. It was a lovely trail through the woods and through meadows, with Morgan providing tips and info about the lay of the land. You can tell how much they appreciate and care for their beautiful horses and grounds. I highly recommend putting this on the itinerary!

I feel so lucky that I found this horse riding outfit. From the moment we arrived, this wonderful family-run stable took great care of us. The horses are adorable and easy to ride and even my 5 and 7 year old were able to ride on their own. The family that runs this outfit are kind, informative and all around, lovely. Perhaps our favorite thing was the little puppy, Freddy. Watching Freddy run after the sheep while riding in the most beautiful scenery was something we will all remember. Highly recommend!!!!
