    Friendly, Welcoming and Professional Stables
We absolutely loved our first trek at Castlefergus … so much so we booked in a second one straight away! Definitely the friendliest, warmest, most welcoming and professional stables we have visited. My two daughters are just starting out and I am returning after a long break from riding - Sarah, her family and her team skilfully pace the trek so different levels of experience are catered for. My daughters were made to feel safe and confident walking while lead on their lovely ponies and I was encouraged to jog my memory and take a trot and canter. All of the wonderful reviews are absolutely deserved and I’m only sorry that we will only be able to come back when home from London visiting our family in Limerick… if we lived closer we would definitely be regular visitors! Thanks Sarah, family and team (and the beautiful horses of course) for two wonderful treks this summer! We’ll definitely be back! Curran Family

    Birthday Trek
My daughter and her friends had a lovely trek here for her birthday last week. The girls ranged in age from 8 to 14 and a suitable pony was found for everyone. The trek went through woodland and across the beautiful countryside and river banks. Castlefergus is such a peaceful place with lots of animals and nature to be seen. We felt very welcomed by all the family and the girls all felt safe and really enjoyed the trek.

    Fantastic Trip To Castlefergus
I would highly recommend castlefergus horse riding as we had a great experience today. I had the beautiful horse Roxy who took me on a gorgeous forest trek. It was great to be outdoors. I felt castlefergus did a tremendous job of social distancing and providing us with a great experience under the covid conditions. Sarah, Mella and Ciara made us feel very comfortable and calm as we had our first horse riding adventure. We will definitely be back soon - keep up the good work!!

My son and I had the opportunity to book the horse riding experience during our stay at Dromoland castle. We have ridden horses during other vacations, but certainly are not experienced riders. We had Morgan as our guide and he did a wonderful job guiding us, but also shared some history of the land and the Irish culture. Morgan led the way, but my son and I were given the freedom to travel at our own pace and the horses were calm and responsive to our commands. Our two horses were Magpie and Graham and both had a good demeanor.
Overall it was a great experience to be able to do something we enjoy, while feeling safe at the same time. The cost is considerable and could be an obstacle as a one hour ride will cost a party of two 160 euros, which was greater than was advertised by the castle on its website.

We had the most wonderful experience at Castlefergus! Beautiful surroundings and 2 lovely horses Frosty & Spangles. My two daughters (aged 7 & 9) were absolutely mesmerised with the whole visit, start to finish. Our hosts were so welcoming and genuine. I would whole heartedly recommend a visit for anyone visiting the beautiful county of Clare.

The horse trails and the O’Brien family were simply wonderful! Their hospitality and spirit of welcome made for a fantastic experience for our family of novice riders. The trails are very scenic: through a farm, past the castle and finishing with a trek through the fairy woods!

We had a wonderful romp around the countryside on our horses, Magpie and Bluey, during a weekend outing at Castlefergus. We had a fine set of hosts in Aida and Morgan and it was a lovely little trail ride. Aida was kind enough to honor an unusual request from a well -experienced equestrian and allow me to take Magpie into the outdoor arena for a bit of a trot and canter. That was the best part! Thanks for a great time and we'll plan to visit again in August!

My wife, son, and I had a wonderful hour-long trail ride with Castlefergus Equestrian. The O'Brien family are wonderful folks, and the property is beautiful. We'd definitely recommend to visitors to the area.

What a fantastic and relaxing experience! As an equestrian it was great to ride with an experienced stable in another country. All the horses are clearly loved, the trails we went on were gorgeous (even saw some fairy mounds they had on property), and the owner of the stables was such a lovely guide. She was a great guide, took lots of pictures for us, and just an overall joy to connect with. We were able to go on a private ride and enjoyed a gorgeous mid-morning ride through the woods and country side. I highly suggest this experience if you're in the area!

What a fun experience! My husband and I rode horses along some lovely country trails around a castle and medieval ruins. The owner of the facility, Ada, is a lovely lady and a very knowledgeable horsewoman. She is also very knowledgeable about the history of her grounds.

I am used to riding a Western saddle and my husband is a beginner. I was surprised at the differences between riding on an English saddle versus a Western saddle but this was actually highly doable after a little getting used to it.

This facility does require you to wear a helmet which is not a requirement where we are from but we were able to get used to it quickly. This facility is able to accommodate any level of riding experience, including kids. They have over 30 horses available.

I highly recommend this as a wonderful way to spend some time in Ireland!
