Fun despite heat

The black bear exhibit we saw first was great, but everything else went sort of downhill after that. The other exhibits did not all have great viewing areas, and some of the animal information signs were so old we couldn't even read them anymore. The zoo is building a really large new area, so they are at least updating. The... More

The heat made us cut our visit short. We had 6 mo old and 2 yr with parents, grandparents, great grandma. Things to see. Animals visible for all to see. Volunteers had animals to see really close. Splash pad helped so going in with grandson beat the heat. Places to sit if need be. After paying admission having to pay... More

I love going to zoos and this is one of my favorites. It's large, clean, and has lots of animals. The animal exhibits are organized rather well too. The African animals are together-- elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, the chimps and gorillas, etc. I like how they have both indoor and outdoor locations for most of the animals so that if... This zoo is both overrated and over priced. The admission alone is a bit pricey (considering it's a rather small zoo) but there is a plethora of things to do once you're inside that comes with an additional price besides the general admission. We enjoyed our visit with family including small children (kids are so easily impressed) but I would... More

It was my first visit and I was very impressed. The zoo was very clean and well maintained. New exhibits are being developed to keep up with the times.

A hot day but had a great time. It was Pokemom Go Week and we went on the Saturday before school started but it wasn't crowded as we expected and 1/2 price admission was a nice perk. Worth the stop.

Knoxville's Zoo is a treat. Much nicer than I had anticipated this attractive facility offers a great variety of animals in natural surroundings. It also has a great venue to interact with giraffe and camels It also offers a splash pad area for kids to change into their bathing suits and play in a bunch of fountains. Great on a... More

I've been to a lot of zoos and this is not one of the best, but it is pretty nice. They have a wide variety of animals and it is worth going to.

Are there animals at this zoo? The reptile section did have reptiles but they live in dirty cages. I would not recommend this zoo to anyone.

We're really sorry to hear you found your visit less-than-perfect. Summer days, especially as hot as it was on the day of your review, will find our animals opting to stay cool in the shade or in their indoor shelters with access to fans and air-conditioning rather than vigorously moving around, and we give them the option to choose where... This is the 2nd time we have been here....the first time was on a cold rainy day in December....and then now in August. We really liked how close you felt to the animals and the way the exhibits were set up. There are lots of bathrooms and food options (more in August than December). My 8 year old enjoyed the...
