Love walking at the park

I go to the park regularly to walk. It is so peaceful, great to walk the dog too and the kids enjoy walking around the forts.

We enjoyed walking thru the displays in the building and watching the short video about the fort. Outside the fort itself was very cool . The displays were informative and we learned something in a fun way.

It is free day to day there is special events that may cost. It is open daylight to dust. The welcome center is clean and cool. Great place to walk sight see, bring your lunch to eat, or walk the trails.

Went to see the outdoor drama that is performed here the last three weekends in July every year. This is a must see performance. All the actors are local people and do such a good job. The drama tells the story on how this area was settled and what the settlers faced during the time period. It is a little... More

Stopped here with little expectations. Was very surprised and pleased that Fort Watauga was filled with re-enactors in great authentic looking colonial attire.. some of them were very eager to share their knowledge. Fun experience.

My wife and I stopped by while checking out some of the historic sites in the area. Although there isn't a lot to see, we enjoyed the small museum, the representation of the fort and there was an art show going on that was nice to see.The staff was very frindly and informative. I would recommend seeing the short movie... More

The fort is a representation of what the original fort may have been liked. The Park Ranger was very knowledgeable and was eager to give a talk. Very educational and as a history buff I learned a lot about the Over The Mountainmen Trail which goes through my county of Rutherford NC.
