Did you know The designation of DUKW is not a military pun - the name comes from the terminology used for military vehicles in World War II; the D indicates a vehicle designed in 1942, the U meant "utility (amphibious)", the K indicated all-wheel drive and the W indicated two powered rear axles. Although technically a misnomer, DUKWs are often referred to as duck boats. Another popular nickname was old magoo or simply magoo. Though the origin of this term is unknown, it probably refers to the odd shape of the vehicle. DUKWs became known as ''Ducks'' and are still in use, as well as purpose-built amphibious tour buses, primarily as tourist transport in harbor and river cities.

This tour is a great way to travel around Chattanooga and learn about the history of the town in an informative and fun way. Our guide was fabulous! He even let the kids 'drive' the boat. You can tell he loves his job and the...More

I loved the ducks as a kid when we went to Wisconsin Dells, mainly. When I saw Chattanooga had them, I had to add them to my boyfriend's surprise birthday trip last weekend! He loved them, too! We like to experience off-the-road attractions as much...More

We had a great Captain. We enjoyed the ride and learned a lot about Chattanooga landscape along the bluffs.

Boats are awesome. However the guide was very overboard in his storytelling. One story included swatting a woman with rolled up papers.not once, but several times. It became inappropriate. Her grown daughter was upset. Some comments were on the edge of inappropriate. But the boat...More

Been on other duck rides in other cities and this by far was the best. Both entertaining and informative. Brought my 2 sons 19 and 11 and both had a great time. Definitely a must on your visit!

The driver was funny. Little kids onboard had a blast. My elderly mother enjoyed herself too. Worth it!

We had fun...a little loud, but nice! Didn't go around land as much as water. Only an hour long... Could have been longer and students should be discounted more.

The grandchildren enjoyed it - would certainly do it again. We learned so much about Chattanooga that we did not know. The guide was knowledgeable about the area and made it all very interesting.

No you don't get soaked. Occasionally when the wind is very strong from the west it can blow into the Duck. On those days the Captain will usually enter the water slower to reduce the "splash"

I just checked their website and it looks like they only have tours from March to October. You can give them a call to find out for sure.

It last close to an hour. Most of the visit is on the water with a short shuttle from their 'base' to the launch site. One suggestion . . .make sure you charge your devices to capture everything. Hope you enjoy!
