Did you know The designation of DUKW is not a military pun - the name comes from the terminology used for military vehicles in World War II; the D indicates a vehicle designed in 1942, the U meant "utility (amphibious)", the K indicated all-wheel drive and the W indicated two powered rear axles. Although technically a misnomer, DUKWs are often referred to as duck boats. Another popular nickname was old magoo or simply magoo. Though the origin of this term is unknown, it probably refers to the odd shape of the vehicle. DUKWs became known as ''Ducks'' and are still in use, as well as purpose-built amphibious tour buses, primarily as tourist transport in harbor and river cities.

Captain Thomas exceeded expectations. The trip was safe and informative. I learned so much about Chattanooga, which is what I desired. Both my son and I enjoyed it very mush.

The Driver was a good guide gave an interesting tour. He was reckless. My grandson and I even though we were hanging on tightly were thrown off her seat onto the floor twice

That is worrisome. Could you please be more specific when you were thrown off the seat. And what were some other times, if any, the driver was being reckless? Water? Road?

This was a fun adventure for us seniors as well as kids alike. Captain Tommie was engaging and the kids got to drive the duck in the water.

Captain Thomas was fantastic at giving us the history of the Chattanooga Riverfront and the history of the WWII boat they use for the tour. Spend an hour with the friendliest crew you'll ever meet. The kids even get to drive!

No you don't get soaked. Occasionally when the wind is very strong from the west it can blow into the Duck. On those days the Captain will usually enter the water slower to reduce the "splash"

I just checked their website and it looks like they only have tours from March to October. You can give them a call to find out for sure.

It last close to an hour. Most of the visit is on the water with a short shuttle from their 'base' to the launch site. One suggestion . . .make sure you charge your devices to capture everything. Hope you enjoy!
