beautiful park area

Nice creek with rapids, and grassy recreation areas. The creek is bounded on one side by private dwellings. A small golf course is on the grounds as well.

Just Scoping Out After Hearing About It

Appears to be a great place to bring Grandkids when they visit. Nice picnic areas. I'm told fishing is good on the lake with the trails and docks providing easy access.
I'm sure my Grandkids will enjoy the train!

Beautiful mountains and lake setting
Jan 2020
We drove through with some friends, and it was a wonderful experience. It was on an early Sunday morning, so the park was almost empty. We had it all to ourselves pretty much. Would love to come back sometime and play some bluegrass music together. The creek that runs through is just gorgeous with little waterfalls as you drive past. We LOVE the mountains surrounding it. We did hear that the water is very contaminated and you should never eat fish that come out of it, which was disappointing. But, if you just want to go somewhere and be near God and nature, this is a perfect place to visit.

What a great park. Hiking trails were awesome and well maintained. The lake has plenty of shore fishing. I will be coming back to visit again.

Came here since the parks in the Damascus, VA were closed. I am so glad we took the trip. Perfect walking trails for me and my little in the stroller. Also nice trails for my husband and boys. Picturesque atmosphere. I am so happy we took the drive.

Family Friendly

The fishing is pretty good. There is a small train ride for the kiddies, a splash pad, and plenty of playground activities. Shelters are available for rent if you have cook out type events.

What a pretty place to play
Jul 2019 • Friends
We stopped on a trip around supper time. Grabbed something to eat nearby and brought it over for a really pretty picnic by the creek. It was a couple bucks to get into the park. Looks like a big place to explore. There was a splash pad area where kids were staying cool. Plenty or places to throw a ball around and wade in the creek. And not far off the interstate! We'll be back I am sure when passing through this area.

Love this park!

Excellent walking trails for any level of experience. Perfect for those walking dogs. Love the path along the water. Will see all kinds of fish, turtles, birds, and deer. Nature center and staff are worth visiting. We have been here multiple times. Only downfall is people letting their kids scream and holler with no regard for others also enjoying the park. We avoid that by going deeper into the woods to get away from the children's area. Park is beautifully maintained with very clean restrooms. Minimum park fee of $2 if you want to be close to the facilities. Otherwise, free parking or access to the park is available on some of the side roads.
