Granted it is not one of the best museums we have been to, but it was informative and interesting. Drive the old Fort Meade area and see the other buildings.

To honor our veterans a trip to this museum is worth your time. Ft. Meade has been active throughout the beginning and been through so much. Very interesting.

The museum is small but a lot of stuff displayed orderly. Gives a good overview of the history of Fort Meade. It has never been real busy at the times I visited. I like the fact that it isn't large and overwhelming. For a small...More

This was very pleasant surprise for a smaller museum. Lots of history packed into the place and very interesting! Go up the hill in back and walk around the old time military cemetary. I'm glad we found it and took the time.

Yes, it was named after George G. Meade but the fort was established in 1878-1879 to protect settlers that came into the Black Hills following the discovery of gold by the Custer Expedition in 1874.
