The museum is small but a lot of stuff displayed orderly. Gives a good overview of the history of Fort Meade. It has never been real busy at the times I visited. I like the fact that it isn't large and overwhelming. For a small admission fee and a hour or so of your time, your family will have a... More

Lots of military history and artifacts collected from the local area. One room devoted to the native inhabitants. This museum is a two-story building that one house the commandant of the fort. Interesting stuff in the museum and the docent had a lot of knowledge to share about the history of Fort Meade. Personally, I did not like the museum,... More

This was very pleasant surprise for a smaller museum. Lots of history packed into the place and very interesting! Go up the hill in back and walk around the old time military cemetary. I'm glad we found it and took the time.

Visited the Old Fort Meade Museum on a beautiful sunny day, after driving around the well kept grounds & Veterans hospital. The museum is very nice filled with the history of Fort Meade, starting with a film & story about the Fort & history of the area. Some of the collection contains uniforms, weapons, hand written letters, newspaper articles. They... More

Very interesting, a lot of information about Fort Meade. Staff was very friendly, and able to answer questions we had. The museum tells you about Col. Samuel Sturgis who was the first post commander. It was at Fort Meade that the Star Spangle Banner was first ordered to be a part of the evening military retreat ceremony.

We visited this museum as an afterthought, but it should have had a primary spot on our itinerary. The museum does a great job of describing Calvalry life in the late 19th century. There are some very unusual artifacts, and even the most educated person in American history or Calvalry lore can learn a lot.

This was a good way to spend a couple hours on a rare rainy day in the Hills. Good film to introduce you to Ft. Meade and interesting exhibits. Worth going to if you are in the Sturgis area.

We went up to Sturgis this week, it was after the rally. We wanted to stop by and check out the Ft. Meade museum. It's a wonderful display of history, they have a WWII 1942 WLA Flathead Harley-Davidson. Lots of displays of uniforms, hospital rooms that includes a wheelchair that has a crank and bicycle chains hooked to the wheels.
