Lovely drive. We only made one stop at Bridal Falls, a lovely waterfall. One end just off I90. Needles Highway is the best drive if you have limited time.

So a bit boring for young children but great views. I'm glad we took the drive, it was nice but not anything unexpected if you've done a drive like this.

The drive was beautiful. We have been all over on our trip so our kids were bored looking at more rocks and trees. Spearfish has loads of places to eat. It is a nice little town that seems to be growing judging by the road...More

Good drive. Drove it both ways. I think it was more impressive driving towards Spearfish, but both ways were worth driving. We did find a 'gateway' to several backcountry roads that took us to some beautiful areas of the Black Hills. A few areas to...More

Drove this scenic byway from Deadwood to Spearfish as recommended. Very pleasant leisurely drive. Glad we drove it, but nothing really stood out as a scenic byway compared with other canyon wall drives. We stopped at the waterfall viewing area, and mostly watched other people...More

Took the kids for a drive. Our first stop was spearfish falls trail, quick 1.5 mi round trip. Ate lunch at the restaurant then traveled to Rough Rock Trail. That was a fun one and the falls were beautiful!

Enjoyed this drive from Spearfish to Keystone, lots of beautiful views and waterfalls. You can find lots of easy hikes along the way.

Took this drive in late September...... of 16 ..... leaves we're changing and the air was crisp... drove up the canyon and into Lead,Sd down thru Deadwood and back to Spearfish. ABSOLUTELY beautiful drive.

We enjoyed all three water falls. Roughlock and Bridal falls are easy to find, but Spearfish Fall is a little more tricky since it's not marked. It is located right before Roughlock Falls behind the restaurant.

Our trip took us through the Badlands, Black Hills, Spearfish, the Big Horns, Yellowstone and the Tetons. We liked Spearfish Canyon the best of all. Incredible...

Several hours depending on number of stops. Great restaurant across from the Spearfish Lodge and also the location of best falls which take about 30 minutes roundtrip to hike down and back up. Two other falls in Canyon worth... More

We did two stops - Roughneck falls and spent 45 min? This would be a good place to picnic if you were around lunch time. Then we stopped at Bridevail falls for just a photo - it is right off the highway. I am sure you... More

This may be a silly question - but do you have to start in Spearfish to drive the byway? We will becoming from Deadwood so wondered if we could start at the end and work our way towards Spearfish?
