This library is a history of George and Eleanor McGovern—his life as a senator and his race for the presidency. It is also a reference library for the adjoining college and anyone who wishes to visit. It also has a magnificent photo library of the...More

Small museum (it's actually an exhibit in the Dakota Wesleyan library, which is named for George and Eleanor McGovern) answering some of the big questions about McGovern's life and his landslide loss to Richard Nixon in 1972. Knowing that Nixon resigned in disgrace, you wonder...More

It really isn't anything special. Sure there is a touch of history (a hallway) associated with the place, The library is small, it has a coffee shop and classrooms used by the university. Oh, the campus bookstore is in it, as well. That's about it.

Museum is located on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University. Nice review of the highlights of the McGovern's careers. Rather ironic that McGovern lost in a landslide to Nixon, not a very popular figure in presidential history.

THe McGoverns were an amazing couple as well as interesting individuals. It speaks to who the people of South Dakota are that although primarily Republicans, McGovern was elected US Senator over and over again. THe library is a gem. The art is outstanding

We found this museum by accident and didn't know it existed. More publicity outside of South Dakota should be given to this well done, small museum within the library of the Dakota Wesleyan University. George McGovern and his progeny influenced the lives of poor and...More

Clearly anyone attuned to today's politics will see the similarities to McGovern's campaign and the fever behind it by interested Americans. If you were too young to remember it the first time around, or if you want to relive the late 60's and early 70's,...More
