A very interesting and alternative sight. Very good for children. We began with washing real gold with the help of a very nice employee. Later we went on the guided tour in the mine. It's above see level, but still rather cold, so remember a sweater. The guide was good and informative, and we got a very authentic experience. The... More

We toured this gold mine that was established in 1878. The tour guide was informative. You were required to wear a hard hat which the kids that were on the tour thought was cool. They even let you touch certain areas in the mine.

Just FYI, this is only open during the summer and is now closed until Memorial Day. Wish Trip Advisor made this clearer as it still shows that it's open in the off-season.

It should be experienced with young children. A 20 minute walk through an old mine. Nostalgic and part of history but the kids seem to enjoy it.

Enjoyable step into history. Knowledgeable staff. Gives additional perspective to the gold rush. You can even pan for gold for a few dollars more. Fun experience.

This is a really good activity for families. It is very affordable. The walk through the cave is easy and pleasant. We learned a lot about gold mining in South Dakota. Warm, friendly staff makes it even more enjoyable.

We as a family went to this and it was amazing! Price was reasonable, staff was very friendly and the information provided on this tour was awesome. Hands on, lots to see and the gold panning that is an extra cost was incredible as well. Highly recommend this. You get to go inside of an old mine and look around.... More

This is a fun thing to do especially on a warm day the cave is about 55 degrees. Great to learn about how the mine worked and the history. Also don't foget to pan for gold.

This was a fun little side stop during our day in Deadwood. It was geared toward our kids (11 & 15) but my husband and I enjoyed it just as much, I think. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our kids had fun learning to mine gold after the tour and came home with a fun souvenir to... More
