Went waterfall hunting while we were there....watch footing, slippery if you're not watching your steps. Oconee Station State Historic Site was great to walk around a look at and enjoyed the time there. Beautiful old buildings depecting life in by-gone times. Enjoyable.

We went to Oconee Station state Park on a Friday morning and parked in the lot by the office, bathrooms and the historic buildings. We first went to see the historic buildings. There is the William Richards house built in 1805 and the Stone Block...More

This is one of the earliest sites of colonial settlement in the upstate of SC. This was a major trading post with the Cherokee, colonist and British Army.

Go ask Park Ranger Scott, who has been there 25 years, or assistant ranger Laura, and I promise you they will have the answer. Historic reenactments are done periodically, also!

My wife, grown daughter and I viewed the solar eclipse from the open ground surrounding the houses at this site, just up the hill. We were at Oconee with about 400 other folks, scattered across the site, with most over at the dam area. Where...More

Considering the fact that the station was built in the 1790s, it is in remarkably good condition. Be aware that you can only go in the buildings on certain days at certain hours. Check the website or their Facebook page. The path from the parking...More

Ranger was very knowledgeable and friendly. She told us history of the buildings and answered all of our questions. Did the easy hike to the beautiful waterfall on the same day and nice outing.
