We had heard about this place from an acquaintance who thought it was really great so we went to see for ourselves. I suppose we thought it was going to be somewhat like Pinkney Island preserve. The walk is partly through a neighborhood and commercial properties. There is a small area where we did see the nesting birds which was... More

A little difficult to locate but worth the effort. It is an adventure in viewing all varieties of birds (Herons, Egrets and Ibises) get an ID book to have fun. Turtles and gators are there, but TE best is the short walk in a calm time ( w/o tweets, fake news and no shootings)Don't miss this part of low country... More

Love coming here, even if it's just for a few minutes. If you go on a hot day, you will see a lot of turtles and birds. Have also seen a raccoon and baby alligators. Haven't seen the big alligator yet. Parking available on Paris next to the Cracked Egg or next to the YMCA.

We were looking for a little something different to do and had heard about the Cypress Wetlands so we decided to give it a go. The path is a bit hard to find and not very well marked at points but it was definitely a fun thing to do. The path is beautiful and you have the chance to see... More

Nothing big or unusual but a nice pleasant stroll on a mostly boardwalk surface around a wetland lake. You will most always see a variety of birds and some turtles. We saw an alligator with his head up resting in the grasses not far from the viewing platform that has the mounted binoculars. A nice sunny day is the key... More

We have walked the trail at the Cypress Wetlands many times each year since it opened. It is a fine walk, but not too long. Every other year by the beginning of March the Wetlands would be full of birds-- Great White Egrets, Snowy Egreta, Great Blue Herons, Little Blue Herons, Blabk Capped Night Herons, Ibises, Mud Hens. This year... More

Took this park walk as it was nearby just to get some exercise before our long drive back. Glad we did as its a short walk and it was slightly confusing as you have to pick it up again after walking down a neighborhood street. Saw an abundance of turtles but no alligators.
