Great museum for adults and kids
Dec 2019
Took my 3, 7 and 10 year old here. We spent about 2 hours here. There were displays for all of us to enjoy. There's a wealth of information for all of us to learn. Kids even had fun interactive displays and play areas to learn from.

A visitor center & fire fighting museum.
Sep 2019
The visitor center was small compared to other centers during a 24 day trip, yet a very helpful staff member. The center leads to the museum. My visit didn't last as long as I had hoped, had a second site at 12:00, while the center didn't open till 10:00 on Saturday. Photographed twenty vehicles-five horse drawn & fifteen 1900's fire engines, that range from a 1857 Button & Blade Hand Pump Fire steam engine to a 1969 American La France 900 Series Dominion Pumper. All vehicles are showroom quality. Glass cases have helmets & fire fighting apparatuses for every day fire fighting.

Along one wall are the earliest types of firefighting-back to Roman times-Working in Turnout, Gear, Layered For Protection, High Pressure, Fire Fighting Nozzles, Enhanced 911, On Scene Communications & Modern Communications.

Each vehicle is behind a three foot tall metal railing with a detailed history of each vehicle. For the children is a stairway to a tunnel slide. A theater shows about a 12 minute video about fire fighting. Plenty of free parking & a small gift hop.

Any person with an interest in fire fighting, equipment, vehicles & a history of fire fighting, this museum will not disappoint. Even the children should enjoy a visit. For most visitors at most one hour should enough time, where my visit was a hour & half.

A visit is highly recommended. NO large crowds.

Being a fireman I already knew I would like it. Great equipment and there are areas for kids to play. Gift shop, plenty of parking, no restaurant.

Great place for kids
Sep 2019
This place is great for kids. The fire engines range from the early 1900's to the modern engines of today. Kids and adults can learn the history of the fire engines and fire fighters. The kids can slide down poles like real fire fighters, watch a virtual simulation, play on the slides and also interact with the hoses and pressure.

The staff was very friendly. There is a gift shop to purchase gifts and other trinkets for you to take home. The kids also get a plastic fire helmet to take home with them. If you like museums, give this place a go.

A walk through FD history
Jul 2019 • Couples
My husband is a firefighter. We had some time and wanted to visit the fire museum. This museum has the evolution of fire trucks from the earliest pulled by man to the latest with all its advanced gadgets. One of the guys, Ray Bennett, was extremely informative and even looked up the trucks for the department my husband serves. His insight was a great touch to a great museum!

This place is so cool! Our kiddos had a blast. The adults enjoyed it just as much! We especially loved the fire truck simulator! Make sure you check out the show in the theater our little ones got a thrill out of trying to figure out how the fire started. Definitely worth a visit!
