This is a lovely beach but has the addition of the summer home of the Huntingtons.
Quite old and hurricanes and weather has in taken a toll. You can see the servants quarters, the family rooms and even the compound where his very talented wife...More
Unfortunately, it had rained steady for several days before we arrived and our campsite was surrounded by standing water causing a serious issue with mosquitoes and biting flies. We were not able to spend anytime outside our camper at our campsite. There were no other...More
The entire park and beach was well kept and life guards were everywhere. Beach was clean except for a few jellyfish in the water and a few people got stung including my daughter. The beach is not as crowded as Myrtle Beach. If you are...More

Hadn’t looked at reviews prior to visiting; however, this is a great place to visit for relaxation and to get away from the crowded beaches. The beach here is excellent. Great views of nature and the ocean. There are walking and bike trails that lead...More
Our B&b had a season pass so that was great. fantastic beach for swimming and walking ,Not to crowded and would recommend it .Alligators were seen sunning themselves in the marsh and could be seen on the drive in
We visited Huntington Beach State Park as we were looking for a campground. It is a wonderful state park but could not accommodate us as we have a 40 foot RV and there was not an available site. Would love to stay there sometime!
If you want to walk miles along the ocean (or the preserve causeway), this is the place. People were shore fishing (we saw a couple of baby sharks caught). The Atalaya Castle tour was later than we were staying but looked interesting and is right...More
Huntington Beach State Park is as complete a beach venue as you can find along the Grand Strand. Wonderful views without high rise buildings, a wide beach, great surf, a small store, restrooms and showers to boot! The only beach we ever visit and we...More

It depends on what you & your mother want to do. There are some great boardwalks and paved paths to observe the birds & alligators near the causeway. The castle within the property would also be accessible. Boardwalks lead to the beach which is gorgeous and quite firm near the water. My question would be what do you want to do at the beach? Having used a walker when I had a hip replaced I can tell you walking in sand is difficult & tiring...the type with wheels will have issues, but the basic, fold-up types don't have seats. You'd probably need to carry along a camp chair. There were benches on the trails and at the parking areas, but I don't remember seeing any once you got into the dunes & the beach beyond.
