Visited the park twice. What a great way to get out to the ocean. Was able to walk along the ocean and view several pods of dolphins in the the afternoon. No businesses and seemed very safe. Very clean natural setting.

One of the not so hidden jewels. This is much more accessible than Cumberland Island in Georgia, but yet allows you some similar experiences. We have always had spectacular birding there. Nice place for walks, beach strolls without dogs, inner dune magic. What spectacular weather...More

This is a fascinating sister site to Brookgreen Gardens - the land for both was owned by the same family. The house at HBSP is worth the tour, there is a nominal fee and you can upgrade to an audio tour for another couple of...More

Want to slow it down, visit Hunting Beach State Park. Plenty of parking, great beach, picnic area, hiking/biking trails, and Historic Home that only charges a couple of bucks for a guided tour. We spent about 2 hours, but you could easily spend the day.

There is a charge to get in...the beaches are nice, hiking trails as well and endless birds and water fowl. Boardwalk extends over the wetlands for a nice walk and alligator sighting......all in all a nice day.

This is a beautiful beach, usually uncrowded but the lower end doesn't have a lifeguard which is okay except when sharks are around. We like to walk the beach down to the breakwater. there are trails if you like to take walks. When the weather...More

It depends on what you & your mother want to do. There are some great boardwalks and paved paths to observe the birds & alligators near the causeway. The castle within the property would also be accessible. Boardwalks... More
