Actually, while we walked out to the beach we didn't use it as we are local for 6 months and have a beach much closer that we use. That said, HBSP has a large parking area, many hiking trails, campgrounds, a very nice gift shop,...More

We went to the state park to visit the Atalaya Castle, where the Huntingtons lived while they built Brookgreen Gardens (on the other side of US highway 17) in the 1930s and wintered down here in the South. From the little I have learned about...More

We are in love with the SC State Park system and this one is no exception. The campground is excellent - various sites to meet everyone's needs, clean bathrooms and plenty to do in the park. In addition to the roads in the park, there...More

Not overdeveloped, and plenty of access to nature. Very nice beach, well marked hiking trails, and a boardwalk stretching into the marsh area. Well worth a visit. But a sign said "No Crabbing," so the Ranger made me go away and come back when I...More

This was our second visit to Huntington Beach State Park. We walked along the causeway, and did the Sandpiper Pond trail. We saw/heard lots of birds, and a gator across the pond. We did find parts of the trail to be confusing and ended up...More

We stayed at the campground in March 2018. Nicely spaced sites with water and electric. The water hookup and electric box at site 29 are close to the road. While our electric cord reached the box, the 20 ft water hose was too short to...More

Beautiful, beautiful beach, affordable, simple trails, plus a castle with a fascinating history. Right across from Brookgreen Gardens. If you have little ones, though, just keep an eye out because they have alligators in the marsh area. There are clear signs posted in the area,...More

We have been coming to this park for over 8 years. We have gone to the beach, campground, trails, (previously) nature center, and overlooks. Love!

Yes, at the beach heads. There are also restrooms at the ranger check-in station used by the campers. There are no restrooms at the tide waters or the hiking trails.
