We just wanted something a little different to pass the time. Four and a half hours later and still so much to see. Sculpture and grounds are lovely, animal exhibits, and boat tours. Storybook Forest for the kids. Something for everyone

My wife and I started our visit with a great guided tour (free). Then toured some on our own, and finished in the Butterfly House (extra charge). It was all spectacular.

brookgreen has done a great job of cleaning up after our recent storms and flooding. It was so peaceful this latest trip and I got to see the volunteers already hard at work putting up the lights for a thousand lights exhibit.

It really depends on the area of the park you are walking. Some areas have quite a bit of shade, but others are more open. There are plenty of great areas to choose from whether you want shade or not.
