We stopped here on our way into Savannah and everyone was enthralled with the birds and turtles. Seeing a dozen alligators was the highlight, though! We did not stop at the Visitor’s Center but were content with the 4 mike loop. We saw the most...More

Great four mile drive. Lots of birds and over 25 alligators. Didn’t see any in the first two miles but then they were everywhere for the second half of the drive.

I love it here and take the four mile drive at least once a week. Great place to go and talk to the Creator. 💗

Thank you first to Monica Harris for the welcome and all the other info. The refuge has a small visitor center with displays about the flora and fauna of the swamps. I enjoyed touching the bones, skulls, and shells. There are short walks around the...More

There are a lot of different animals. It's sometimes difficult to spot them, but it's nature, you will find many different birds, spiders, snakes, gators and many more.

I don't know too much about golf carts but the road through the refuge is long and rough. I only saw cars and trucks on the road. However, I think a golf cart could get through.
