Mother Emanuel AME Church on Calhoun Street in Charleston is a beautiful and historic church that embodies the spirit of Charleston and does much in the community. The church is warm and welcoming and I have had a really good experience every time I have been here for a service or an event. Everyone here is very nice and makes you feel good. They are well worth a visit.…

It was a difficult trip from our hotel to the church due to being in a wheelchair. Streets are worse than Rome. Upon arriving, I was surprised at the crowd. I chose to leave as I felt the sacred space will never be the same. I understand many are as interested as I was in mid Sept. Maybe another time of year would be better. The congregation was very welcoming and the service inspiring. You could feel His presence during the service. Everything about the visit exceeded expectations.…

The congregation was warm and welcoming and we loved the gospel music and preaching. If you have the chance to spend time with these folks, I definitely recommend it as part of your time in Charleston.…
