My family and I visited this landmark the third week of July 2018. We parked for free in the assigned area as it was not crowded. The 1/4 mile walk to the actual beach was fun as there is lots of graffiti along the walkway....More

What a wonderful site to see the Morris Island Lighthouse in all it’s splendor from Folly Beach. Worth the walk down the beach

The Morris Island Lighthouse is a special place in Charleston and a City Icon. It sits on a shifting sandbar accessed by boaters only, Eco tours are available for transport to the lighthouse. While the light house is not functional and is closed to the...More

Getting to the lighthouse from land required a short walk. once there the view from the secluded little beach was perfect. The wake was too rough for swimming but it great to just sit among the rocks or walk along the beach to admire the...More

The light is no longer connected to land. I got some beautiful pics from Morris Island beach and across the salt marsh from the bow of the Absolute Reel Screamer, a charter boat captained by Gresh Meggett - a local whose grandmother used to play...More

When I was a young boy the lighthouse was close to the shore of Folly Island. We used to crab in the gulleys around the base of the lighthouse at low tide. It is in danger of being lost to the acts of nature but...More

Enjoyed the sort 1/4 miles walk to the beach. Did not care for all the graffiti along the way. Nice view of lighthouse from beach. Saw dolphins swimming by. Again graffiti takes away from the natural beauty of the beach area.

Absolutly excellent! A must do at sunset. I am a local and it is not just for our wonderful tourist. Worth every penny if you love history, water, ecology, beach, shells, education and sunsets. Just loved it. The staff are knowledgeable and pretty awesome!

We used Charleston Outdoor Adventures for our trip to Morris Island. You would need to ask a tour company whether or not animals are allowed on their boats and/or the island!
