Join a 13th generation Middleton, for a personalized local perspective. End the tour in a private garden with refreshments. Walk with a local who grew up romping the streets of the downtown peninsula. The history of the city will come alive through the bricks and mortar still standing.

This was a fantastic two hour walking tour of the city. Our tour guide Anne is a 13th generation Charlestonian anthropologist who knew a lot about the history and it was amazing to hear her personal story mixed in with the tour. This was the perfect way to start our trip and I learned a lot about the city that... More

This tour gives you a picture of Charleston as it grew up as a walled city as well as its transformation into a tourist and historical destination in the last 20 years.

One of the best walking tours I have ever had. Anne did a wonderful job of explaining the history while mixing in her own personal history and stories from her own life. It really gave another edge to the tour that you could not get with someone who wasn't so local. I recommend it!

We have taken many walking tours in Charleston and this is by far the best. The tour guides (two sisters) grew up in the city and know the small back alleys that aren't in the books. Very interesting and fun at the same time. Skip the buses and horse drawn draws carriages, this is the only way to see Charleston.

This was a very informative tour led by a native Charlestonian with a true attachment to the history of the city. She shared interesting general history information as well as more personal bits of history. As an archeologist Martha Middleton had some interesting facts about the builings and architecture that I had not learned on previous visits. Even on a... More

I took a spontaneous walking tour today 11/5/2016 and it was awesome! Very informative, fun and positive. Also, this business is owned by folks who have been in the area ever since the first ship sailed from England to the New World to settle in South Carolina and Charleston area. You can really feel the pride, passion and deep knowledge... More

Martha gave a walking tour that overall provided a nice overview of the city's rich history and showcased its architectural treasures. She was occasionally a little off on a few basic civil war questions (my 10-year-old who just finished a segment on the war noticed a few errors) but the tour was nonetheless a worthwhile way to spend a few... Highly recommend this tour which is very informative with historical, architectural, cultural, and social tidbits about the city. The guide is delightful and engaging. She loved answering questions and our tour went over to nearly 2 1/2 hours. It was great. The tour ends in her family backyard with a history of the house and a glass of lemonade. You... More
