Ok Folks, if you're going to take a tour of Charleston, DO NOT go by bus. As hot or cold it may be it is worth being in the elements to take in the sights with a horse drawn carriage. My friends and I have taken the horse and buggy many times and have always had a wonderful experience with... More

There probably won't be any other small city in the US with more historical and heritage quaint little houses than Charleston. If only it didn't rain, we would have taken an extended tour. Grayline was very efficient. They're the better alternative to the free trolley tour, which could get to be freezing, this time of year.

Chris was our guide and he obviously has been doing this for some time as he had his information down to an art. He was very informative and even allowed us an opportunity to do a visit into one of the churches that is only open to the public for limited time-- and we were there during that time frame.... This was a Gary line tour of Charleston, SC that lasted for 2 hours. Felt this was a great way to get information about this city.

Nice tour on a small bus with just a few people on board; guide gave good commentary, but to my Brit ear, I had a certain amount of difficulty understanding some of it due to his accent! So missed some of the humour I guess, but enjoyable anyway. The old town centre of Charleston is pretty compact and accessible on... More

If you have a limited budget, choose a walking tour of Charleston and skip the bus or carriage We usually like to get an overview on a bus but Charleston is different. Seeing the city from the many available walking tours is the way to go in our opinion.

We have started using overview tours when we arrive in a new area to obtain a general sense of where things are & get some history. Our tour was delayed in starting since a large group had not arrived by departure time. I'm guessing we were 15 minute delayed. Some of the people in the group arrived 5 -10 minutes... More

The land tour is first class, our guide was a Charlestonian, retired history teacher. Interesting, funny, engaging. Steve, our water guide was the best narrator that I have heard. Between the two, best Grayline tour we have taken across our fabulous nation. 3 hours very well spent, especially after Labor day.

If you want to see much of Charleston in a short time, do the city tour on Gray Line. Our driver was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour lasted about an hour and a half. Traffic and roads in Charleston are a nightmare so this is well worth the money.

The Boone Plantation tour is well worth the time and money. The home hase sla been painstakingly maintained and the grounds lovely! There are self guided tours through the slave cabins as well as interesting talks given by guides. Unfortunately this tour did NOT allow enough time to see at least 25% of what was included in the Plantation that... More
