My husband and I had a fantastic tour with Al. His family has lived in Charleston for generations, and he has an encyclopedic knowledge of its history with a flair for storytelling. Even though he must have given hundreds of tours, he approached ours with genuine enthusiasm. It's clear he loves this job! We walked all over the historic district... More

The Old Walled City of Charleston is full of surprises, history, and intrigue. Al has a tremendous amount of knowledge and is able convey it readily. Sometimes it's easy to get lost in the stories, dates, people and times - ask for clarification and you'll be good to go. The guy knows much and is excited to share it all!... More

We spent a cloudy and cool afternoon with Al touring Charleston, but after being hearing about the history and culture of the area we soon forgot about the weather! Al is very versed in the history and was happy to answer any question or veer off the path to show us something extra. We learned so much about the Walled... More

Our tour guide was Al. He was quite excellent and tremendously informative. I would highly recommend utilizing his services. The tour lasted about 3 hours. It was money well spent and included yours of the old theater and the Heyward-Washington House. This one is a must for 1st time visitors to Charleston.

We so enjoyed our walking tour with Charleston Old Walled City Walking Tours. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, because he had grown up in Charleston. It was at a time when Charleston was not what it is today, and his enthusiasm about the city was contagious. He had lots of knowledge about two of our greatest interests, architecture and history,... Thank you for the awesome review! That tour was a great time, and I'm always happy to talk Cabbage Row! This past May I was selected along with others to give the Porgy and Bess Tour as part of the Spoleto Festival, our international Fine Arts Festival. George Gershwin was in Charleston in 1933 to write the opera. As a... More

At 70+ and a lifetime of travel we have rarely come across as knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide. If you visit Charleston, don't miss seeing the historic district through the eyes of a sixth (or seventh?) generation Charlestonian.

Thanks for the great review! I have been studying Charleston History since I was knee high to a grasshopper and it is an ongoing pursuit. For years I was a Health Care Outreach worker and attended many presentation seminars learning strategies to instill knowledge in a general population that you had for an hour presentation and an hour only. Beware...unreliable company! My husband and I booked a Christmas Day tour. All week long we received email notice confirming our scheduled tour. We received our final email confirmation on December 24 the day before our tour. All seemed in order. Christmas morning in Charleston we saw many tour groups throughout the city. We planned our entire holiday around our afternoon... More

Let's get the facts straight. On December 19, when the tickets were purchased online, I immediately responded through the ticket portal that I would not offer a Christmas Day tour and left the reservation open so that you could have the option of rescheduling or refund. At the same time I forwarded to you through business email "The Six M's... More

Al is a friendly Southern gentleman who will take you on an interesting and educational walk through Charleston's history. He welcomes questions and seems to genuinely enjoy sharing stories about his beloved city. Our group of four friends thoroughly enjoyed Al's tour.
