About Old South Carriage Company
See historic Charleston from the vantage point of an Old South Carriage. Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers narrated, hour-long carriage tours by licensed guides, day and night. Come to our stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary but recommended as tours frequently sell out. We use French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy equine employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner's 65-acre plantation on John's Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or graze under century-old live oaks. Look for the Red Sash: our symbol of a quality horse-drawn carriage tour of Charleston, South Carolina.

Had a wonderful experience today with Old South Carriage Company. The historic tour was excellent and educational, the stables clean and orderly, the guide was exceptional and funny (I can’t recall her name) and the horse (Sammy) was unbelievable. Part Clydesdale and part Belgium Draft, he towered over his competition and had an awesome personality. We definitely would recommend Old South for a unique way of learning about the charm of Charleston.

Our guide Bri and her steed Rowdy were excellent! We opted for a tour where Bri pointed out some highlights and we asked lots of questions. Bri was knowledgeable and funny. We enjoyed the educational info about the horses that the company owns and how they are cared for. We had the private carriage and it was cozy and comfortable and very clean! Bri has a great grasp of the city’s history, architecture, and anecdotes. I highly recommend this company for your Charleston carriage ride.

We went on the Haunted Carriage Tour with Big Mike & Prince. They were great! The stories and information were great and Big Mike is a hoot! We went back to the graveyards the next night hoping to catch some snapshots of some local legends. Everyone in the barn was so kind telling us all about the horses, it's clear they're well cared for and loved. Much more fun than I expected. Thanks to everyone at Old South Carriage!
