The house and grounds are spectacular! I do not think that the owners can fit one more piece of history, glitter or character in this amazing house. You cannot touch anything. The guide could not be understood because of his excitement in giving you as much information about all the "stuff" collected in the Calhoun Mansion. "The largest private residence... More

Regardless whether you take time to visit this fine old mansion, you must walk down lower Meeting street and look at the fine homes. Also, it is worth taking the time to peek into the gardens as you pass. The Calhoun Mansion is well attended with folks that can tell you the history and show you the spaces that are... More

Beautiful home but not a historic home. You can't really enjoy the home for all the "stuff" that is stuffed inside. In every room, on every wall, along every hallway, are things the owner has purchased from around the world. It's basically a beautiful home used as a storage unit. Unless you are a fan of eclectic trash, piled floor... More

We came across this house while on a self directed walking tour and decided to take the tour. What an amazing house! There was so much stuff in it though, that it was sometimes hard to appreciate the details of the house itself. The house has one man's collection inside - some of it is interesting, some not so much.... More

To not only see the beautiful Calhoun mansion in which part of the Notebook was filmed, but to also be treated so kindly by the staff, it was a wonderful experience!! I was so grateful to experience the authenticity and the beauty of this place. Thanks!!!

Enjoyed the tour. The house was nice, but so much to see...a little over the top with stuff everywhere. Kind of pricey for the amount of time & content.

I had a wonderful experience at the Calhoun Mansion. The tour was informative and very interesting! My friend and I first saw the mansion on a carriage tour & knew we must stop by before we left town. The man working in the gift shop was very kind and generous towards us. The tour of the mansion was the highlight... More

The home itself is beautiful and it is literally packed with antiques. Literally packed! The ground surrounding the house are quite pretty as well so I am glad that I visited.

This is a beautiful historic home in downtown Charleston. The current owners live in the home and allow visitors during the day. They have filled the house to overflowing with their priceless collections, some of which date back to the 18th century. They also have beautiful gardens surrounding the home.
