The Charleston City Market is huge, spanning many city blocks. I'm not a shopper, so maybe the market was lost on me, but at the same time, it's famous, and I'm glad that I stopped in. HINT: If you get hungry, eat at Caviar and...More

We visited the market at a time when temperatures were in the 40's and light rain or mist coming down. The part closest to Meeting Street is climate controlled. When one leaves the front section, the next area is open to elements except that the...More

You will find a variety of items here from local crafts people to imported souveniers. There are a good number of sweetgrass basket weavers here if that is what you are looking for.

If you’re into woven baskets this is your go to place. If you like historic buildings, this is your place. If you’re into shopping you might want to branch out. The city market is pretty limited in its offerings. You can be in and out...More

We shopped at the Market two times over a two day period. They had some nice crafts I really wanted on of the Sweet Grass Basket, but the price for a Bread Basket was $350.00, way too much, I found most of the prices in...More

Somethings were a bit unusual. There was a nice assortment of reed baskets and Vera Bradley bags. But, for the most part it was your typical sweatshirts and souvenirs. They were fairly priced. It was a nice place to walk.

This market is very overrated. Many duplicate vendors selling the same products. No bargains to be found. Jewelry vendors, clothing vendors, food vendors. Typical market vendors without the ability to negotiate.

Was there with family for Thanksgiving weekend and enjoyed the vendors. Many different items for sale. Souvenirs, jewelry, food, art in different forms, sea grass baskets were a few items to be found. There were musicians playing and Christmas Carolers singing. Very entertaining.

There are no baggage restrictions that I am aware of. However, the market is crowded and it will be awkward trying to move about with large bags.

I am Not sure about that... didn't see any dogs on leashes in the market area. We live here in Charleston but I've never brought our dogs into the market.
