December is a great time to visit Charleston and the City Market is a lovely stroll on a Saturday morning. I loved talking to a lady weaving sweetgrass baskets outside the 2nd stall, buying a print of Gullah life and all the local provisions. Things can be pricey. This market is more upscale than others I have visited- like New... More

If you are near the Charleston City Market it is definitely worth strolling through. Depending on what merchandise might captivate you it could occupy you for awhile or you might fly through quickly. Regardless it has interesting history.

Lots of high quality as well as inexpensive items from Jewelry to souvenirs. Can get through easily in an hour or less. Parking nearby is expensive but many carriage ride places offer free parking with purchase of a ride so great to combine together.

This makes a nice addition to a visit to Charleston. Lots of vendors, many local artisans with beautiful hand-woven Gullah baskets.

I wouldn't cater my day around the market. It has many vendors that sell cute items from hand made straw baskets to shoes. It is right off of king street so might as well stop by the area to browse around. I don't regret going but it really only took is 15 minutes to browse around.

A must stop in Charleston. Plan to spend at least an hour. Many vendors with local arts and crafts. Along the sides are many great places to eat.

Local artisans sell their wares here and you can always find something special that is uniquely Charleston, including wonderful items from the Historic Charleston Foundation. You will also get great bargains on things like jewelry, leather goods and pashminas. I am a local and I shop here regularly year-round, but especially at Christmas. My favorite is Charleston Shoes, the most... More

The building its housed in and the history aside the actual merchandise being sold left a lot to be desired. There were a couple of vendors which sold some unique goods like the sweetgrass baskets and artwork. But then 80% of the rest were things I could probably find in any other "City Market". Definitely stop by for the historical... More

We enjoyed walking through the market looking at some of the local crafts. The buildings have an interesting history and are nicely restored. It fits well into this historical section of town.
