Amazing beach! Limited parking and I can see why — so much space to yourself and your group on the beach. Get past the rocks and you have some amazing waves! Better than Westerly hands down

Not the best
Jul 2020 • Family
I read the reviews here before coming to this beach. I went today on a hot Sunday and we had to pay $49 for parking! I understand that is a hot weekend but even so $49 is way too much. The beach was really clean. The water had lots of seaweed and there were jellyfishes which kept stinging everyone. I think it is a really nice beach but my experience wasn’t the best. Also if you bring chips make sure to hide them somewhere not visible at all because otherwise seagulls will take them.

Nice sand and surf, not too crowded
Jul 2020
We arrived at just before 3pm on a cloudy Saturday in July and was able to park fine. $14 for out of state visitors, paid cash. There was a sign farther up the road saying the lot was full, but we took a chance figuring that other people had left and, sure enough, there were spaces available.

I think the beach is above average for the area. The beach was wide, clean, and long, with enough room to have plenty of space between groups. The water was refreshing and pretty choppy, which is the way I like it; more fun than the calm CT beaches farther west on the Sound. There is no housing or commercial development so only dunes were behind us, making for a very relaxing atmosphere.

No amenities beyond some composting toilets and port-a-potties in the parking lot.

We'd definitely come back!

The best of the best in RI. Strong water but one side you can bring small children a d its like a calm pool in your yard. Has limited parking. Always went very early or during week, when I say limkted I think its about 1oo. Beach never crowded, can stay 15 0r 20 feet apart. Sand du es jjst a beautiful place. A little bit of heaven.

Lovely beach, limited resources
Sep 2019
This year I resolved to go to every beach that my state beach pass gave me access to. For those who don't know. Due to the very limited parking and the distance from my home, I chose not to go to this beach during the season (Memorial Day - Labor Day) which maybe makes the pass thing kind of a false accomplishment, but I'm still calling it a success.

I have actually been on this beach several times as I have a friend with a house (and boat) on Ninigret Pond. So I have largely been further East toward the breachway which is difficult to access. Down at this end it is largely the same. The water is lovely, there is very little seaweed due to the sandy bottom and ocean action. The sand can be a little rocky near the shore, but it's beautiful closer to the dunes. Because of the limited parking and amenities, I assume it is much less busy than other state beaches. I can't say for sure what it would look like with the parking lot full but the lot holds very few cars compared to the other state beaches.

In exchange for far fewer people than other beaches, you have to go really early to get a parking spot, and you have to be fully equipped when you arrive. There are bathrooms but really nothing else. At higher tides (anything above mid, really), the break and approach into the water is very steep. Because this is an ocean south facing beach you often get good sized waves. These will make it hard to enter and exit the water if you don't know what you're doing. It also makes it harder for bodysurfing and boogeyboarding if you enjoy those activities.

Wonderful beach - small parking lot - must get there early. Negative - Only have port-a-john style bathrooms. No changing rooms.

Nice, long and quiet beach. The water is so blue and warm. Parking is not that big so you get to come early.

I live across this beach.words can’t describe its beauty.Amazing sunrise!Go early, otherwise you will not get parking. There are no showers. There are bathrooms. You will not only get a beach, but also a saltwater pond too.Bring a Kayak, or paddle boards. This pond is great for water sports.Wonderful place for children. There are no food stands here so pack a picnic. Please, please, clean up after you’re done. So future generations Can enjoy it as much is you.
