We visited the mine while out and about in the area. My husband is a coal miner so we thought it would be neat to go. You start out upstairs in a little museum that shows a lot of different tools used to mine coal and other things. Next you go into a classroom where you are given a brief... More

I took my kids and some friends for a "summer field trip." It was a great tour. Kids loved it... although we were all a bit nervous loading into the tiny coal cars to be transported into the dark mine!

This is a no longer operating mine that has been turned in to a kind of museum. You enter in a short train of real mine cars on a tour led by a former coal miner. You get to view life underground as it was experienced by miners of different generations of mining technique. The miners who lead the tours... More

Didn't take long to get there (40 minutes from Bridgeville, 20 minutes from Pittsburgh), easy to find. Restrooms in gift shop/museum were clean. Interesting artifacts abounded. Educational talk was, may I say, educational. Didn't have to wait long for trip down into the mine. The mine car is not designed for the handicapped. but you aren't in it long. Our... More

My mother and I went here on a rainy day in Pennsylvania. The museum is great with many things that have become antiques and miner's equipment. The staff is very helpful and nice. The tour inside the mine was informative with many mining equipment still in operating use. The train got stuck coming out of the mine due to the... More
