The zoo had lots of shaded areas which you'll appreciate! Very cool "kids kingdom" section with a tube slides, playground and covered area with tables/chairs. You're kids will enjoy petting the deer. The aquarium has a huge 2 story tank with big fish!

The zoo is good for hiking. And the trail design is okay for viewing animal. But it might be a little bit hot to walk under sun in simmer. The types and amount of animals might not be very many. So if your purpose is to see as many as possible animals, you might be disappointed. Also, many animals are... More

This was probably our best visit to the Zoo. All of the animals were up and about and easily visible in all exhibits. The Mother's Day Brunch was very nice and the "Meet the Animals" sessions were cool. The new additions were so-so, but apparently still in progress. I miss the old bear exhibits. The aquarium was in a little... More

Hot! off the Press! The Zoo is going to introduce a Dinosaur exhibit this Memorial Day and it promises not to be stationary, thanks to Robotics! But apart from this excitement, the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium with all the animals in naturalistic habitat always is a lot of fun . We've been there many times being past residents of the... More

It was spring when we visited, and many of the animals weren't out and about. However, there is a play place. As well, there were some of the animals in the aquarium that were very visible and swimming about. Would go again in warmer weather. Be aware that they are currently undergoing major renovations.

We traveled to Pittsburgh with the kids and grandkids. The weather was a little overcast so it was great for us. The temperature was perfect. There was a few of the exhibits that were not available. The sand sharks, the sea otters, and the crocodiles were gone. There was one polar bear, but no other bears. No tigers. There were... More

I ventured to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium yesterday with my daughter's class and it was a lot of fun! The temperature was hot -- in the low 90's -- but there are lots of shady spots to rest. Unfortunately, the several story escalator up to the main entrance was closed, so we had to take 100+ kids up... More
