This museum gave me a sense of the role that Pittsburgh, and "the point" in particular, played in early US history. Revealing!

My family is becoming increasingly interested in local history so we toured the Fort Pitt Museum using our Heinz History Center membership. We were disappointed to learn that Fort Pitt was more of a trading post that didn't play much of an active role in...More

Housed in a building from the original fort, this two story museum contains much information and items that detail the history of the forts which used to occupy the park it's located in. Very well put together and quite educational. A must visit.

As a visitor to Pittsburgh, I enjoyed learning about the history of the city. This museum is packed with information, but it's not overwhelming. If you visit on the same day as the Heinz museum, your ticket is free!
