Hi! We're having a great time at Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and the only thing missing is you. MAKESHOP, our tinkering space, has real tools and materials such as wood, sewing machines, hammers, nails, a loom, animation station and more. Jump right in, that circuit isn't going to build itself! The Art Studio is calling for your creative energy to design and ink a silkscreen, paint, sculpt clay and create something unique alongside the many working artists who visit. Young ones, you are royalty in the Nursery, a space filled with colors, shapes and textures perfect for your growing minds and bodies. The Attic, Garage and Waterplay (because it's just not fun until your underwear is soaked) round out the permanent exhibits. But not so fast. From marching bands, slam poets and cultural traditions to letters that fall from the ceiling and a crawling maze made out of packing tape, our temporary exhibits, performers, programs, artists-in-residence and artwork are particularly awesome too. If we don't hear the protests of departing kids at the end of each day, we're not doing our jobs right.

I went while on vacation and thought it was awesome and definitely measures up to a few other ones that we frequent in our home time. I was shocked to see that the water exhibit was not only interactive but that you actually could play entirely in the water. We enjoyed the art exhibit and the area with the slide... More

Our 10 year old spent several hours in here and complained she didn't have enough time! Interavive museums always rate high with me and our daughter thoroughly enjoyed trying it all.

The exhibits are really well done. There is a Mr. Rodgers theme throughout the museum (with items such as his old sweaters on display), which is cool for parents. I recommend bringing water clothes and a change of clothes so your kids can enjoy the water exhibits on the top floor of the museum.

This place was perfect for my three-year old to run around and let off steam. There were plenty of things available that she could do and understand - some of which kept her attention and interest, and others which did not do so much. There are some areas more suited and geared towards older kids, and some better for younger... More

Been to a few childrens museums over the years, each with their own positives and negatives. I think this one was just OK. The best part of it was the top floor water works. If you are a local this would be amazing to take the kids to during the winter. They can get their bathing suits on and just... More

We were in town visiting family for Thanksgiving and looking for something to do with our children ages 3 and 10.5 months. We were able to get in for free due to our membership to our local science museum. Note: It's worth looking into the reciprocity list to see where you can go with your family. It has come in... This is an awesome Children's Museum and it's made the way a children's museum should be. It's multiple levels of hands on kids activities. It has an arts and crafts section, water section (tip, bring swim suits and a towel) it has science in it, and all sorts of awesomeness. I would recommend bringing kids here all the time.

We've been to a few children's museums (my wife asked where the display of kids was in this museum), but this one is fantastic. We planned to go to the Science Center, but our kid was so happy here, we stayed 4.5 hours, and we'll do the Science Center on another trip. From the craft room, to the climbing maze,... More

Awesome place for little kids to explore, and experience various science phenomena. They can play and learn simultaneously not even realizing they are seeing the miracles of science. Fascinating and totally interactive for all ages, especially young toddlers and pre schoolers. Impressed how patient and polite most children and adults were in sharing and waiting their turns to try new things.... More
