This zoo doesn't come close to the ones in Philadelphia, New York or San Diego. But what it does offer is a small atmosphere where a family with young children can go for a 2 hour experience without being overwhelmed. Free parking is nice and...More

I recently visited the Elmwood Park Zoo for the first time with my two young sons (1 yr & 6 yrs). It was a beautiful summer Saturday, so the zoo was justifiably busy. We had no trouble moving about the zoo and truly enjoyed the...More

This is a wonderful zoo for families. It's close and clean and the kids love the themed weekends. They also love being able to feed the giraffes, bison and birds.

This is a small zoo but they manage to pack a lot into a small space! There are lots of different animals to see and feeding experiences (these cost extra). The highlight for us was our 6yr old doing the Cub Climb and ziplining. I...More

Probably best for kids and family since there's a mash up of animals to see, touch and rides like a small train and carousel. But there's a decent variety and quality of animals to observe. It was a little jam packed being a sunday but...More

Cute family owned facility. Be prepared to bring extra spending cash, this place taxes you the entire visit. Feeding the Giraffes was has the funniest policy. All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, the adult must pay. Essentially families with children under...More

I remember hearing the lions roar from my home. We had family reunions, class trips and family outings here. Great place for families to spend the day.

Hi Kristy, Full disclosure - The adult climb has some very challenging obstacles even for adults with large steps required (read adult size legs needed). Courage and good balance is a definite plus. Only you can know if... More
