When people come to visit Lancaster, they typically find their way into the tourist traps along Route 30 looking for a real "Amish" or Lancaster County experience. I have found the best place for me to take out-of-towners is Roots Market. This working market has something for everyone. In addition to local food and crafts, the people watching can't be... More

Only open Tues. Best authentic farmers market in PA. Near Lancaster. Lots of fresh homegrown produce. Go early. Large parking lots. Take a canvas shopping tote to carry everything!

Roots is a great country farm market open all year, but only on Tuesdays. Plan accordingly. The fresh veggies and fruits are wonderful. Reasonably priced. Down home atmosphere.

I take all visitors there for an exciting fresh aire experience. Loads of different vendors all there with their wares...some used, some new, some fresh, some..well you get the picture. Something for everyone. But dress in layers for outside and inside buildings...and wear your walking shoes. Bring a sturdy shopping bag to help tote everything you buy.

Roots is just a short drive from Lancaster and it was well worth it. There are Livestock Auctions (just follow your nose), there is a Flea Market the vendors are fun and kept saying "Don't pay attention to the prices, we can talk". And most importantly to me the food, I had something that I never had before or never... More

My sister and I were introduced to this place in December 2014 because it was off season for the farmers' market we usually go to. Well, you would have thought we hit the lottery the way we were spending money!! Not only was it a farmer's market but there was a variety of other items for sale. It's a good... More

This incredible Bazaar of food and goods is only open Tuesdays. It takes up five or six huge buildings as well as outdoor stalls! Don't miss it if you are trying to sample the local baked goods, meats, pies, honey, vegetables and so many other things the list would be endless. If you've been to the market bazaars in Turkey... Open only on Tuesday and we went twice. And would go again and again. Here is a list of fantastics: people--locals (Mennonites, Amish) and people from all over; food--great food to eat there, great food to take home (get baked goods, fresh meats and vegetables); auction--buy vegetables by the case, chickens by the lot; and ambience--just a fun place to...
