The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, established in 1861, is the first commercial pretzel bakery in America. As of August 2007, the site is under new ownership. The bakery and store have been completely renovated and are now operated once again by the Sturgis family. Visitors can tour the original pretzel bakery, see soft pretzels being made by hand, and find pretzels baked by the oldest pretzel baking family in the United States.

Everything you wanted to know about the baking of pretzels but were afraid to ask. A small gem of a place to put on your list of "things to do and see". There is a small tour and video presentation of the making of pretzels which is quite impressive. The best part is the gift shop that sell all of... More

If one likes Pretzels then a stop at the Strugis Bakery is a must. The building itself is historic and housed the first commercial pretzel bakery in America. They offer a short tour which goes over the history of the building, pretzels and Strugis company. You get to twist your own pretzel with "play-dough" and get a certificate for your... More

Delightful tour with pretzel history, concluded by a lesson and personal effort to make your own pretzel. Knowledgeable staff. Pleasing gift shop with a variety of items to take home.

When in Lititz we stopped at Sturgis, took the little tour and became certified pretzel twisters, you made a pretzel. A fun place for all ages, rounds out the Lititz day with Wilbur Buds, Sturgis Pretzels, welcome center, General Sutter Inn ( Restaurant) .

This is flagged as a "to do" destination, but I would call it a "to eat" destination. They have hand made pretzels, the soft, chewy kind, made from sourdough. They are fantastic and it is a worth a trip out of your way to have one. The tour of how they are made is also interesting, but the real attraction... More

Great place for people of all ages, well except for infants & very young toddlers. The staff is very nice & infomative & the store has lots of yummy pretzels to purchase. Everyday, you learn something new and today it was about the history of pretzels. A 25 minute tour gave us the history of pretzels and of the Sturgis business. We even learned how to twist a pretzel. You can buy fresh soft pretzels or a variety of hard pretzels or memorabilia in their small store. The staff is knowledgeable and... More

The beautiful old historic building drew us in and we thoroughly enjoyed the "pretzel history." We plan to return with our grandchildren. An added plus is the beautiful town of Lititz.

So much fun to enter this building built in 1784, to take a tour of the factory, twist your own pretzel, or buy bags of pretzels, local candies, and fun t-shirts. You can buy two soft pretzels for less than $2!!! And when you are done, you can walk right out onto Main Street in the 'coolest little town" in... More
