An impression, for James Buchanan, arguably the most qualified person to be elected President, and maybe the lowest rated President, lived here before his presidency and after the White House, until his death in 1868. Our docent was knowledgeable and very informative. This well preserved...More

We hoped to learn about the President and his life and his time in the White House with his achievements/lack of them. Instead all you have is a tour of the house he lived in before and after his presidency which is not what we...More

I took a date to this fine site a few weeks ago. As a Pennsylvania native, there are not a lot of United States Presidents that we can fully claim as our own. Ben Franklin was not a President, Dwight Eisenhower WAS a President and...More

The tour takes an hour. Our tour guide was great. He had a voice that could be heard by all and he wanted for all of the visitors to collect around him before speaking. He was very knowledgeable about James Buchanan and it was a...More

Wheatland is only a short drive from my home and I didn't rank it very high originally. My 7 year old did fine and listened to our tour guide, which is a difficult task. The place is well maintained and has many of his belongings,...More

The only time I've visited Wheatland was when it's decorated for Christmas, and the tour is holiday-centric. The mansion was gorgeous with all the Christmas decorations and several trees. The actors did a commendable job portraying the time period.More

I prefer not to use Pay Pal so if I check open tour spots, and then come over (I'm local) well ahead of the tour time, can I buy 2 tickets there. Would have booked but we had previous problems with Pay Pal so we won't use them.

What days are they open and what hours between now and the end of December. How much are the tickets and can you get them there? Is there a restaurant or café? Also, are their places to sit during the tour for older people?
