Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters was formerly the Australian Shark and Ray Centre Port Stephens! Still offering the amazing experience of swimming and interacting with Sharks and Rays, Irukandji now has a guided tour included for all visitors, exciting new changes to the existing exhibits and NEW Exhibits coming soon.

The new owners are passionate and dedicated to our Ocean's conservation and Marine Science. Every visitor can learn about the ocean depths and step outside their comfort zone by diving in with these amazing ambassador animals. Once you have experienced these majestic creatures individual personalities, you will have the confidence to take the next step and dive Looking Glass, a popular Nelson Bay shark dive site.

Wondering about the name Irukandji? The Irukandji Jellyfish may be the most deadly thing in the world! Coming soon you will see them with your own eyes and learn about the Jellyfish blooms that are currently taking over the ocean like never in history.

If you are after an out of this world experience that can be shared with the whole family (even tiny babies get a wetsuit and booties for a swim with the Sharks) then Irukandji is your next adventure waiting to happen.

we spent a couple of hours at the Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters, the kids did not want to get in the water with the Sharks and Rays but a lot of people did, we patted small sharks and some very large Rays, the guide was very passionate in his attitude to the fish and talk. Wow, worth the price and hours spent here. Lovely staff and the so knowledgable Ryan, we loved his passion about the sharks and sting rays. The place is just so worth it, there is something for everyone, if you do not go in the water, you can can still feed the rays and sharks on the side of the tanks.... More

The opportunity to come so close to these animals is pretty rare...we really enjoyed our morning at Irukundji. Definitely bring your swimmers to experience the full offerings this place has. Our 4yr old loved it, our 2.5yr old freaked out a bit, but I just carried him on my shoulders above the water for most of it...hand feed rays, sharks... More

Hi MJLEA09, Awesome! Its actually strange, usually the little ones are not scared, they get scared later when they start to realise real life, then they overcome their fear again :) We are thrilled you enjoyed yourself. Thank you for reviewing us Cheers More

My son has loved sharks and rays for so many years and we drove past here on the way to Nelson Bay and just had to stop! It was a great experience for all of us. We fed sharks and rays and felt comfortable with well informed facilitators. This place is a nice place for the whole family and if... More

It was AMAZING! All animals taken well care of (most being rescue animals), knowledgable staff, and very interactive. Be sure to get in the water with the sharks and rays, it's seriously amazing and worth the payment. We are three adults and had a great time feeding and patting them!!! Allow a couple of hours so you don't have to... More

WE HAD THE BEST TIME. Staff are friendly, educated and sure to make you feel welcome. Got to pat & feed sharks and stingrays, got a great tour from their own marine conservationist. They gladly used my phone to take photos and videos, we had the best time. Go and support these guys, they're doing the right thing.

This was so awesome. Getting to feed the rays and sharks upfront and touch them. It was very educational and I learnt a lot. Would definitely recommend.

Visited on a family holiday with kids 6 & 17 year old. Decided to get up close and personal with the wildlife which added to the cost somewhat; we opted for the wet-suits & Crocs instead of waders. There are 3 pools as part of the tour/talk where you can touch and feed the various stingrays and sharks, with the... More
