We stumbled upon the mine as we took a drive around town. Amazing to think it's FREE. A few mine relics, a lookout over the biggest mine, an easy 50 minute walk around the rim and to view the other smaller open cuts, clean toilets...More

This is a good walk and great view and free which is unusual for most tourist attractions. Close to town but a steep climb for the elderly.

If you travelling through Peak Hill take half hour to visit this old mine. Easy walk around perimeter, if you don't want to walk there is a view point close to car park

A simple attraction, thoroughly interesting left in it's former state. The mine is easily viewed from the walking track which is also sign posted with historical information. A good drop in spot while out driving.

We spent about an hour walking around the rim of the mine ad found it very interesting. It is possible to have a guided tour although we didn't take the option.

We stumbled on this while driving through the area, and what a find. We had seen plenty of large mines while travelling through Australia, but this was the only one we had seen close up to show our children and explain mining in detail. We...More

Well worth the stop on way from Dubbo to Parkes. The views are impressive. A good learning experience for kids.
