Pinetum Park and Pine Lodge Gardens is relatively unknown and yet possibly one of Cornwall's loveliest gardens. Situated in St Austell, Pinetum Park is 30 acres of well maintained and manicured gardens, offering 12 different garden styles and more than 6000 varieties of plants. One of the big selling points of the garden is that nearly all of our plants are labelled and whilst you can expect to find the usual Cornish suspects of camellias, rhododendrons and alike, there are many exotic varieties vying for your attention.

Pinetum Park is in fact a series of gardens, all offering something different throughout the year. As the name suggests there is a Pinetum, a collection of 80 conifers set in four acres of land, this is a truly majestic and magical part of the garden, that takes your breath away on first glance. Not all conifers are evergreen and some produce wonderful autumnal colours, whilst others produce fir cones as big as rugby balls, making autumn an amazing time to visit.

Whilst it would be worth visiting Pinetum Park for the conifers alone, there is so much more to see including a beautiful Winter Garden, planted to showcase the best of winter plants, all were chosen for their beautiful winter flowers, bark and coloured foliage and lots of scented leaves. There are also many heathers, hundreds of bulbs and some very unusual evergreen trees.

The gardens also boast a Zen inducing Japanese garden, that features an authentic Japanese tea house and nearly every plant in the garden is grown from seed that were donated by the Kyoto Botanical Gardens in Japan, after a visit their many years ago by the garden creators.

Pinetum Park is a relatively new and unusual garden, started 30 years ago by some local, horticulturists who set about travelling the world to collect seeds and plants to establish this remarkable garden. Now, well established, the gardens are open throughout the entire year and with so many plants to see, there is something to admire no matter what time of year you visit. The garden also has a tea room serving morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea, a well stocked farm shop, full of delicious and well priced Cornish produce and a small nursery selling plants, all worth visiting in their own right.

95% of our garden can be accessed by mobility scooters and wheelchairs. You can hire a mobility scooter from the ticket office.

My wife and I and our two children aged 10 and 5 visited the garden just after Easter 2017. The garden was a delightful surprise. It's really lots of different types of gardens, so large and some small. The Japanese Garden was lovely, very useful to see what could be done and lots of ideas to take home with us.... More

I bought a locals pass for £16 for the year and will be getting my money's worth! Walked around the immaculately presented gardens with a huge variety of plants and trees, the bluebells were out and it was beautiful. Fed the ducks and wandered around in the sunshine. Taking my dogs next time and will be trying out the cafe.

This place is a bit of a hidden gem, beautifully laid out in some places, informal in others. There are birds around the lake, and in season, baby geese and ducks.Whenever we've visited, it never seems to be busy, and you can let the kids run a bit in places.Lovely................

Our first WI Garden Club visit to these gardens and we were all surprised how lovely and beautifully laid out they are. Really relaxing to walk through the different gardens, a fantastic area of magnificent specimen trees, geese, chickens and ducks wandering around and we had fun guessing the names of the plants before reading the many labels helpfully placed... This was a special suprise discovery. So close to St Austell and yet a place of quiet tranquility. The informal layout of the different areas within the garden are delightful. And the variety of plants, shrubs and trees is astonishing. A lovely way to spend several hours.....and very well worth the modest entrance fee.

What a treat, quiet, beautiful gardens, we found it better than the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Plenty of wildlife around the lake, interesting collection of plants in a superb setting. Will be recommending to all of our guests.

An absolute gem! You would not guess, glancing over while driving past, how great this collection of gardens is. But the range of plants and trees is unmissable for the plant enthusiast. Lots of plants and trees, we hadn't seen before all in an extremely well maintained setting. Any staff encountered were the souls of courtesy. Easy parking and dog... More

It's a perfect sized garden and offers beautiful peaceful scenery, much prefer this over the commercial lost gardens of heligan, This more for adults as there's less activities for children which makes it far more enjoyable, would be perfect for a picnic on a nice sunny day, I'd highly recommend this to anyone

A collection of numerous individual gardens in a parkland setting. We were particularly impressed with the water gardens and the fine lake. Paths were well maintained and easy to negotiate. Friendly staff and an immaculately presented tearoom.
