Fantastic
Aug 2020 • Friends
Today was my first visit to the Heritage museum and I loved it

Welcomed by some great members of staff, who couldn't do enough to welcome you and help you in any way possible.

Main reception building was open however due to Covid everything was closed.

Plenty of Hand Sanitiser and staff on hand to help you or answer any questions.

Enjoyed a talk given by former Vulcan pilot under the wings of #XM603

Must mention John who runs the Facebook page. After having difficulties in booking tickets, he reserved 2 places for us and made sure that Reception was aware of our visit, and allowed us to pay when we arrived.

Small museum but the biggest of hearts
Aug 2020 • Couples
For any aviation nut this museum is a must. Staff were awesome, always on hand to answer questions and very helpful. Yes the cockpits were closed and simulators also. But in the current climate that's understandable. Look out for signs by the redrow homes in woodford as you could end up at a dead end.

A family visit to Avro Heritage Centre Woodford Cheshire.
Nov 2019 • Family
We went on a damp and dreary day last November with our 8 year old grandson.
The visit was very absorbing with a hands on a flight simulator experience .
A Lancaster bomber cockpit and other World War Two exhibits were on show.
As adults we enjoyed the time in the cinema which showed us 1940-1945 life in the armed forces and particularly the RAF.
A small cafe kept us going.
Outside an Avro Vulcan shows the size of the planes we built at this time. We were told that the Lancasters built were tested at Woodford before being dispatched around the airfields of England for active service.
There is plenty to absorb anyone who has an interest in the History of aircraft and flying. It’s not a cheap day out though, if as Grandad, you pay for 5 people.HGW

Great Experience - Due to great guides
Feb 2020
John, John, David and Peter had such enthusiasm for the cockpits they were showing us around. We had a great time but strongly suggest that you include the cockpit tours as part of your visit. Without the tours there wouldn't have been so much life bought to the story of AVRO although there are plenty of storyboards to read.

A fascinating look at the history and aircraft of Woodford Aerodrome
Jan 2020
Woodford Aorodrome has a rich history of aircraft manufacture including the iconic Vulcan bomber, one of which they have on display. You can also get inside real cockpits of a Lancaster and another Vulcan.

There are many other artifacts documenting the history of the Aerodrome and anyone who has an interest in aircraft, particularly military, will enjoy visiting.

Excellent museum and Vulcan "experience"
Aug 2019
A wonderful little museum, staffed by amiable and knowledgeable volunteers. The timeline of Avro exhibits and the manufacturers history is great for aero fans and sited on the old Woodford base an added bonus. But... The base is rapidly disappearing with residential build so if you want to get a glimpse of the old runways and hangers you need to move fast. The Vulcan experience is fascinating, a great talk about the Falklands involvement by a knowledgeable staff member.

Museum visit
Jan 2020
Been meaning to visit this lovely little museum for some time and it’s only a 2 hour drive from home.
It’s an excellent collection depicting the start of Avro till it was absorbed into what has become Bae systems. There is an excellent little cafe on site with a small selection of sandwiches and snacks in addition to this is copious amounts of tea and coffee.
The museum itself has plenty of information boards which well explain the exhibit to which it pertains. If you have any questions there are a number of volunteers around to answer them and I recommend ingaging with them as well as they are all mostly ex Avro employees and they can add more information to any of the exhibits on show. To
There is a free car parking and plenty of signage telling you where to go.
Thoroughly recommended to visit
