A brilliant way to tell the story of Stockport's fortunes, through the history of one house. We were fascinated by Staircase house and it's long history. We visited on a rainy October Saturday afternoon and spent about 1.5 hours here. We bought the multi attraction...More

Visited the house with three children (11,8 and 7) very interesting with good use of the audio tour. Takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to get round and you get to see rooms as they would have looked between the 1600s upto WW2. The eldest...More

This historic building is tucked away in Stockport, but a very good attraction. Went with friends who were impressed with the building and the guide.

The staircase is a reproduced Jacobean one. Was destroyed by fire and rebuilt from photographs. An audio tour is available, so free to explore. Plenty to see.

After 40 years of living near Stockport, we found this hidden gem, right next to the Victorian market hall, which was also new to us. Wonderful to see how this ancient building has been preserved and protected. Well worth a visit but take your time...More

An excellent interactive journey back through time. Staircase house is situated on the market near St Mary's church. I took a 9 and 11 year old and they really enjoyed the experience. I would certainly recommend this for the whole family but not for children...More

This is hidden away in a side street near the market but is well worth a visit if you are interested in local history. The exhibits are very well laid out and you can learn a lot for free.
