If you want ceramics, you have to visit this place!
Aug 2018 • Couples
We had heard about this place from the folks we were staying with and the town of Certaldo was only a 20-minute drive away from our villa, so we decided to visit one morning. There's an excellent selection of pottery on sale; something to suit most tastes, surely. We had a brief chat to a lady who was looking after the shop and doing some ceramic painting as well. It was good to see just how she works and the speed at which she was able to get things done. In the back room, there's an even bigger selection of pottery and also a selection of artwork produced by a local artist who we did see at one point. We didn't have enough time to spend here on our first visit, so we came back on a Saturday, but the artist wasn't on site then, so we didn't get the opportunity of viewing all her artwork, but the ceramics section was definitley open for business. We did buy a beautiful jug, which now takes pride of place in one of our rooms at home. We do recommend a visit to this town, as there is much to see and Artesia should be on your list of possible visits.

Fantastic pottery painting!
Jun 2018 • Friends
Both me and my friend booked a 2 hr pottery painting class. It was great value for money, only €30 euros each and we were the only people. Very much enjoyed painting the tile and a coaster, as well as learning about the pottery process and colours. The teacher was very friendly and couldn’t have been more accommodating, overall fantastic and relaxing experience! Great location as well at top of castle would definitely recommend!! Make sure you allow 2 days after to collect pottery as takes time to cook.

Lovely Experience
Jun 2018 • Friends
Myself and my friend were visiting Certaldo for a few days and we stumbled across Artesia Ceramica. A lovely little place, where you can purchase hand painted pottery or enjoy a pottery class. We decided to do a two hour class (they asked us when and so we could fit the class around our schedule) and were not disappointed! We painted two tiles each, and thoroughly enjoyed the class. The teacher was lovely and attentive and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Important to leave two full days to get your tiles. We arrived to collect ours a bit too early, but the lovely ladies made the journey to Certaldo train station to ensure that we could take our tiles home and make our train!! Could not have been a better experience!

Classes in Majolica Painting
Jun 2016 • Friends
Three of my Pottery students and I (all from Tennessee) were blessed to get to take a Class at Artesia Ceramica. What a wonderful experience.
The City is also a memorable experience. It's like stepping back into another world and another era. I only wish we had been able to stay longer.

Authentic artisans in Certaldo!
Oct 2016 • Friends
We found this great artisan studio selling ceramics and art prints quite by accident but it was a treasure! It is right off the main street after you get off the tram. And you will see a sign on the right with some samples of their work .....go inside!!!
The prices are very fair. My only problem with this place was wanting to take home too much!!!!! Be ready to need to make choices for your suitcase.😉

Amazing artwork and a Must See
May 2016 • Family
Not far from Certaldo train station up in Certaldo Alto, a medieval city, you will find a great spot to visit, Artesia Ceramica. My daughter and I watched an artist, Patrizia, hand paint ceramic items. She made age-old designs effortlessly on plates and decorative items. My favorite were the owl designs that were done in spring or winter designs. There is something for everyone and I'm sure you'll purchase an original piece. I felt like I found an authentic slice of Tuscan life. The whole city that you reach by a funiculars, or cable car, makes for enjoyment for any age.

Authentic, friendly, extremely friendly

We unexpectedly fell upon this lovely shop where the ceramics were being painted before our eyes. I had been searching for Italian pottery but was unable to find exactly what I wanted. At Artesia Ceramica that all changed. I was able to select the shape and pattern of canisters, bowls, etc. They went out of their way to help me. The ordered I placed arrived at my home in the USA as promised. What a lovely surprise it was to receive this magnificent artistry. I will be going back in June 2016!

Was waiting for Deruta but got rerouted (ouch) along the way: talk about a tortured pun
Apr 2016 • Couples
Derma, besides being a town with some fine eating options, is ground zero for much of Italy's ceramics. Many other much more famous locations throughout Italy pretend that the pottery and ceramics they seem to manufacture themselves, either with or without their name on each item. are original to the area. Chances are better than even such items came from Deruta. We were prepared to wait, avoiding other temptations along the way.

However, or better yet in this case, allora: Artesia Ceramica spins its web and off we walk with two lovely pieces, with a photo permitted graciously by the artist. It's a little difficult imagining folk stopping in, seeing the vast selection of lovely various items and walk away untempted.

There's so much of value about Certaldo. Count Artesia Ceramica as high on the list, and a must see if touring the area.

Artesia Ceramica should be a main reason for visiting Certaldo Alto!
Dec 2015 • Couples
This is probably the most unique, original pottery studio we have ever visited. These artists have created a "new standard" in decorative ceramics. They are not on tourist trade levels. Their pieces are museum quality original designs, not copied from things we've already seen in museums or touristy gift shops. It is this pure design that makes their work so wonderful and irresistible. They are artists not artisans! These pieces are a must for any home and totally unforgettable too.

Lovely Shop to Visut
Oct 2015 • Couples
We enjoyed poking into this shop and looking at the different ceramics. We bought several small pieces to take home as souvenirs. The shop is located in the medieval Certaldo Alto, very quaint.
