Natural Splendor along the Swatara.Like many caverns in the Mid-Atlantic...

Natural Splendor along the Swatara.Like many caverns in the Mid-Atlantic states, Indian Echo Caverns is a limestone cave. Cut through Beekmantown limestone, which is over 440 million years old, they were formed through the erosive properties of water. As time progressed, geological forces led to an "uplift" of the surrounding limestone, eventually allowing more and more water to flow through the formation. As the water flowed over the limestone, it began to create small crevices, these small crevices led to larger ones, and eventually, over a series of millions of years, it created the caverns as they are today. The temperature inside the caverns is 52 degrees year around.

Not having been to some of the larger caves around, this one was wonderful. A nice informative hour or so tour. Well run by a pleasant guide. Nice gift shop. The different rooms and rock formations are beautiful. The underground pools were my favorite part. It was fun when they turn out the lights for a minute or so. Highly... More

We visited here with two children, we used a coupon from the Hershey/Harrisburg travel guide $5 off family of 4. Price was average for a cavern tour. Surrounding area is very pretty to set outside and wait for your tour to start..nice clean bathrooms, great play area for kids, a petting zoo and an area for picnics. Tour guide was... More

We had a blast at the caverns. We were in the area for other activities, but this was close by so we decided to check it out. So glad we did. The tour was kind of pricey, but our tour guide (Bill) was fantastic. I believe it lasted about an hour, and Bill filled the time by giving knowledgeable descriptions... More

This is not the largest cave we were ever in. They all have something different to see. Not far from Hershey Park, good thing to do if you are visiting the park. Just a warning, lots of steps.

Longish drive from road on a dirt road to the place set an expectation that was not met. While the history is a bit interesting, the caves were pretty banal compared to other caves we have visited elsewhere. The tour was very brief and as my wife said at the end Was that all?

We went there for the holidays. It was such a nice quiet place. The cave was not huge. It was just perfect for my two children and my two 82-year-old in-laws. Of course they are good 82 year olds. There are some stairs you have to take. This cave is not for people with trouble climbing stairs. Once you get... More

It is a easy find, off 322 and fun to walk the caverns. It is "cool" and fun for those about 15, not always an easy age. There is food and mini-golf. Lets of sights to see. And the Hershey parks not so far away. Just enjoy to Hershey experience.

A year ago my wife and I tried to visit this place and we left with a really sour taste in our mouth. Well a year later and this was a truly a fantastic experience. We were with one other couple and our tour guide Linda was outstanding. The amazing creations of nature showcased in this cave will leave you... More

Took some grandchildren for a visit to the caves. These are not the best caves I've seen, but given the area and the types of rock available, they provide about 40 minutes of entertainment. The 71 steps up and down are a killer for people who are older with breathing problems or knee injuries, but there are nice landings with... More
