Parking can be a little limited but it's worth the visit. There are many spots along the river you can walk to the edge of the river and get a better view. We were lucky enough to see several salmon in the river, unfortunately several...More

Just off Hwy 26 near Zigzag. Easy trail running alongside the river and under all the beautiful trees. Stops along the trail allowed us to watch the fish.

The trail is very nice and not too difficult. You could tell there is a drought occurring at this time, but there were still some rapids. Very peaceful and a great activity.

The trail started behind our timeshare property but it wasn't very long. The view of the river was just so-so, but it was a nice brief walk.

Some very nice views and not to tough. Gradual climb and then along the river as well. It was our first hike and not really strenuous enough for our family. Seemed like a popular backpacking starting point. We only went about 2-3 miles in and...More

My family took our vacation looking at college in the Northwest and had a detour to Mount Hood for a couple of days. The trails were exceptional and I really enjoyed exploring the Salmon River trail with my family.

This walk makes you feel like you've gone back to the Jurassic Period. We kept waiting to see a dinosaur walk out from behind one of the mossy trees. It's a miracle to behold and thank you to the Forest Service or whoever made the...More

Nice easy terrain with views to the river. We actually did the old salmon river trail portion of this. You need a national access pass to use the trail because it's in a national forest. Lots of cool opportunities to talk about moss on trees,...More
