The views are spectacular. There are plenty of hiking trails that through out the lush sweet smelling pine trees. There are so many mature trees other than Pine trees that give this Forest some beautiful colors. We did find public toilets. Bring your camera!

A great place to unwind. Lots of forest trails to choose from. Great views of Mt Hood. We really liked Lost Lake and Trillium Lake.

Much like Disneyland you can select exactly which type of hike you feel comfortable trying. There are flat trails, Trillium Lake trail to mention one, that are easy enough that I met a rather ancient looking lady in a wheelchair enjoying the trail. Other trails, such as Mirror Lake trail, can be somewhat demanding in elevation. It caused a sixty-some... More

Let's get this out of the way...I am and always will be a city girl. Happy around concrete, neon, and uninterrupted cell phone service. Imagine my surprise at being in the middle of tall trees dressed in moss & fungi, unpaved rocky trails, with only the sounds of birds and falling water AND LOVING EVERY SECOND. Tamanawas Falls, Trillium Lake,... More

My husband and I took the entire loop around Mt Hood I-84 to 35 to 26. We started in Portland. It was foggy in the morning, we drove to the town of Hood River first. We enjoyed driving around the quaint town and walking around the marina. By that time, the clouds had almost disappeared. We drove part of the... More

Was not a clear day so we took our chances. Only decent views of Mt Hood. Great little fishing area. Nice couple of miles hike.

Spectacularly beautiful old growth forests straight out of a Tolkien novel. The moss and lichen covered trees never lost their enchantment after days of hiking. We loved the Little Zigzag trail which was a short family friendly stroll and Ramona Falls which was moderately difficult and required a river crossing, but was worth every step as the falls at the... Mt. Hood was a "Must See" on my trip to Portland, 1st time ever in Oregon. Having less than a full day to visit there, my friend & I took the direct, 1hr 20 min drive to the Timberline Lodge. Once there, we took in the ~270 degree view in "front" of us to the west and the spectacular top... More
