Tucked away, it can be easy to miss if your not watching for the signs. Well preserved. I love going to haunted locations to experience for myself, and I can attest... this location is haunted. I was alone in the battery, taking pictures. While doing...More

We were driving in the park when we saw the sign for Battery Russell. We stopped and walked around. There were some interpretive signs to read and we climbed up on the cement structure.

see how life on a WWII military post must have been, concrete bunkers, tunnels to explore. Camping in the park, RV, tent, ot even cabins across the street in KOA

We found this location to be even better than Fort Stevens because we could walk around inside the various rooms. Wish there were more plaques to explain what we were looking at, though. Be prepared for stairs.

Ruins of this battery are very easy to visit/ tour. It is one of two batteries located at Fort Stevens State Park. This one is the small one. And because of the trees you can see Pacific which is actually right there.
