Forrestry Center, a great place to stop on your way to the coast

This place reminds me of a grade school field trip. It has lots of interactive things to do, learning activities and great visuals.

Many people don't take advantage of this cute little museum on the way to the coast. It is a great place for the young and old. Get out of the car and let the kids climb the watch tower and run some trails after visiting the museum and gift shop.

This is a fun place to bring kids and teenagers. We stopped everytime we are on our way to Rockaway /Garibaldi areas. They have a short video about the forestry, gift shop (of course!) , a lookout you can walk to the top, nice restroom too! Worth your time.

We recently had to travel from Portland, Oregon to Florence, Oregon and chose to visit the Tillamook Forest Center on the way. We so enjoyed the presentations of past and present forestry management. They gave a good description of what can happen with a wildfire. Amazing to hear about all of the effort that went into replanting the forest. The... More

Driving up to Seattle from Tillamook we drove through the beautiful Tillamook Forest! Fall colors were blazing in the sunlight and being from the Midwest we decided to stop at the Center to check it out and find out its history. Luckily the short informational film about the Tillamook Forest was beginning and we learned about the devastating fires and... More

This is a great place to visit and very educational about how forests are replanted after a burn. The Tillamook Burn covers many years and burned almost 400,000 acres over a period of about 20 years. It takes you through the fires themselves and the replanting and regrowth of the forest.

Went out of our way to visit this Museum and so glad we did. This history about the forest fires of past, reforestation rebuild and dedication to developing modern fire services is really insightful. The museum is very well done and additionally it is a beautiful drive from Tillamook with a nice glance into how folks from Oregon use the... More
