Oregon Coast Day Trip: Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock

200 reviews
Explore the northern coast of Oregon with ease on a full-day tour from Portland. Look for whale sightings from Neahkahnie Point, then check out the shops or beach in Manzanita. Visit an old-growth forest, have time to purchase lunch and explore Cannon Beach, and walk around Haystack Rock and the beach that flanks it. Stop at a historical logging museum on the return drive to Portland.

MOM -Daughter duo 20+ and 60 yr old s enjoyed renting bikes to ride along the "board walk" and residential areas. The employees were very good about instructing how to adjust the seat and provided helmet. $10 for an hour for 1 bike. The bikes were not allowed on the beach. We rented on Holladay Drive, we noted there are many locations in Seaside. We asked about cleaning of bikes and helmets, but did not witness the cleaning. The business looked very clean and organized and employees were wearing face masks , knowledgeable and polite. Must leave identification when renting.

Our family of 5 was going to rent a large bike. The owner said we’d do better with the smaller bike. So we got that and it was perfect. I appreciated his honesty instead of giving us something more to make more money. The bike was fun and In great shape. They cleaned it really well. They sell an annual pass which worked with the boat rental too. Overall, the kids loved it and we had a blast.

————— SO MUCH FUN!!! ———— Once you get the hang of operating a tandem bike (We were laughing so hard!), there is no better way to see Seaside! We had great luck weaving through people on the boardwalk, checking out crab pots hanging from bridges and getting a little exercise along the way... An absolute must try in Seaside!

We rented a 6 person surrey for 5 of us, 3 teens and 2 adults. We let the kids drive! SCARY! This has a nice overhang to keep off the sun, but if you are tall, the tassels are a bit in the line of sight. The website was a bit misleading to myself, thinking we could ride these on the boardwalk, however you can not and have to ride them on the streets only. Seaside has hills. :-) My one wish was that they offered a 30 minute rental. We only used ours for 30 minutes and were done. 30 minute rentals would allow those who wish to see if this was something they could do try it without spending too much and feeling like they wasted money. The kids had a blast, us adults after hiking in dry sand for 5 days were too sore for an hour long bike ride.

We were only in seaside for a couple hours, and drove by Wheel Fun Rentals. The rental process was easy -- show ID, pay the deposit, and ride off into the sunset (literally). The staff helped to adjust the bike's seat height, and ensure everything was functional - including the handlebar "bell" (which became very useful and essential on the people-packed promenade. We biked at a leisurely pace along the beach - and even stopped for a few minutes to watch the birds and surf... and still fit easily within a 1-hour window.
